Rays have interest in reliever Tyler Clippard.
Though the Rays have a closer in Brad Boxberger, he has been brought up in trade talks during the off-season. Tyler Clippard will likely play in a set-up role, possibly in the eighth inning, but he does have closing experience. Last season Clippard appeared in 69 games, pitching in 71 innings with a 2.92 ERA, 64 Ks, 19 saves, and eight holds. For his nine seasons in the majors, Clippard has a 2.88 ERA that could be even better but he started eight games in his first two season and was rocked for an average of 5.34 ERA for those eight games.
