Investing Heavily

Chris Sale,  CHW -  The streak of 8 straight double digit strikeout games came to an end the last time out but he is still managed to throw a complete game against the best hitting left handed team in the league.  Sale will face the Cubs who strike out the second most in the league so he should be able to make it 9 of 10 games with double digit strikeouts.

Dallas Keuchel. HOU - Quietly putting together the best season next to Chris Sale in the AL but yet he has been even more consistent than Sale.  Keuchel has almost a 22% K rate along with his ability to go deep into games where he has gone at least 6 innings every start.  Keuchel should finish off the weak hitting Rays.

Moderately Priced

A.J. Burnett. PIT - The strikeout are not likely to be very big but should be able to pick 6 or 7 strikeouts if he goes deep enough into the game.  Burnett has a 1.28 ERA on the season at home.   His control has gotten better with age and he does a nice job of keeping the ball on the ground.

Jon Lester, CHC - Takes on the White Sox who are by far the worst team in the league vs. left handed pitching and it is not even close.  The Sox have an OPS 60 points lower than any other team in the league.  Lester has only given up 2 unearned runs and 7 hits in his last two starts.

Middle Class

Jake Odorizzi, TB - Returns from a DL stint and gets the strikeout loving Astros. He  is more of GPP play being his first start back from rehab however..  In his first two start rehab,, he only gave up 1 run.  Odorizzi sports a 9.0/K per 9 innings along with a 0.88 WHIP & 1.64 ERA at home this season.

C.J. Wilson, LAA - Has two starts already vs. the Mariners and pitched well.  He has a 0.69 WHIP and 1.29 ERA in those two starts.  Wilson is not the same pitcher he was a few years ago but can do a decent enough job holding the Mariners bats to a .221 avg in his career.  The price is fair and there are not many options to choose from in the night slate.

Bargain Basement

Hisashi Iwakuma, SEA -  The prices on Iwakuma are almost too good.  The match-up against the Angels has some danger with his issues of giving up homeruns but you rarely find a guy of this quality priced this cheap..  Iwakuma does have good history vs the Angels as well  He only gives up a .238 OBP vs Los Angeles and only giving up 4 homeruns in 143 AB’s against him.

Colby Lewis, TEX - I know he was destroyed in his last outing but the Angels have always crushed Lewis.  He did have a steak of 3 ER or less in his previous 6 starts so he had been pitching well.  Lewis has been prone to blow-up outings the last 2 years but he is a much better pitcher this year than last.  San Diego is also the worst hitting team over the last 7 days.

Ryan Vogelsong, SF - There are not many great options on the slate but the good thing for Vogelsong is that he gets the Philles.  Vogelsong has been respectable at home

with a 2.63 ERA & 1.25 WHIP.  Philadelphia is the worst team in the league vs. right handed pitcher. Vogelsong does not have a ton of upside with the lack of strikeout

potential but he should be able to get the win along with going 6 or 7 innings.  The Giants should be able to knock around David Buchanan.
