The Fantasy 100: You are not late, Segment starts this week. Top 100 get to Playoffs in weks 15 through 17. Winner and his “buddies” get a trip to Las Vegas.
Shhhhh…So late this afternoon, I admit it, I played hooky. Here at the Alarm, we are all been working our asses off and this afternoon, I played hooky. Ohhhh, and it gets worse. I went to my son’s last JV soccer game. I coached soccer, baseball and basketball for the last 14 years. I know ALL the kids really well. I am a positive coach, teaching skills and teamwork to make ALL the kids feel like they “belong”. So when the coaches on both teams began yelling negative things. I yelled positive ones. I yelled loud…like an Alarm.
So, right before halftime, two dads are talking about a VEGAS trip. So, I remembered The Fantasy 100. They are giving away a trip to Las Vegas with airfare and a Penthouse suite at the Bellagio to the winner of the Playoff Contest weeks 15 through 17. The catch is in order to win the trip for MORE people you have to play in BUDDY leagues.
So, at halftime, I took out my smart phone to set my lineup. Then, I showed it to the two guys and told them if we are in the same BUDDY league then if any of us wins, we could all go to VEGAS for the Super Bowl and we bring someone with EACH of us. Six people partying in the penthouse suite at the Bellagio. So we are in.

HOW TO GET TO VEGAS?
Three guys in VEGAS…hmmm…got home and turned on The Hangover. For those who have not seen The Hangover, it is not a classic like The Godfather or Taxi Driver or even 48 Hours. It is the story of four friends who head to Las Vegas for a weekend bachelor party and one of them gets lost. The other three cannot remember what happened and the fun begins as they piece together the quintessential Vegas night.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF SALARY CAP
Now, by now, every fantasy football player has played some contest with a salary cap, a wallet if you will. The Fantasy 100 is not a salary cap game. It is a salary ceiling game...a satchel if you will. The currency is not dollars, yen or rupies. It is TIERS. It is called The Fantasy 100 because the top 100 players are selected each week to be included in the game. Each player is given a Tier from 1 to 10. When you select a player, you get the number of his TIER as points. The challenge is to build a roster of ten players with Tiers adding up to AT LEAST 50. So basically you can take all players in Tier 5 or combinations of players higher and lower than that.
In order to win the trip to Las Vegas, you have to win the Playoff segment from weeks 15 through 17. You would have to be locked on the roof of Caesars' Palace not to make it to the Playoffs. The contest is separated into four-three week segments. The second of those segments starts this week so it is a PERFECT TIME to get in the game. The Top 100 from each segment qualify for the Playoffs. So you will likely make it if you play since you have three chances and there simply aren’t tons of people playing.

Many times when I make a Fantasy 100 Roster, I start by selecting the low Tiered players and I look for a diamond in the rough at QB, TE and DST. This week, I went off the reservation feeling that Manning is the ONLY sure thing. It is only Thursday and since it is so easy to change, there is a 99.44% pure chance that I will change it. Only showing you this lineup so you all can see how easy it is to make a good fun team to root for.

JUST HAVE FUN – THE REST WILL COME
Last year, I signed up early and played every week. I did well some weeks and bad in others, but it was consistency that was the model that had me finish 5th. All my friends played and we were talking about a lot this summer and are psyched that it is BACK! The Fantasy Sports Trade Association honored it with three nominations out of only nine possible categories including Best Fantasy Sports Contest. It is so easy and so fun. You too can feel like you travelled to Vegas, took roofies, got a face tattoo, lost a tooth, got married to a stripper named jade, had sex with a transgendered prostitute, punched out Wayne Newton, stole a Bengal tiger from Mike Tyson and counted cards to win $80,000 to save your friend who wasn't lost, but locked out on the roof of Caesars’ Palace. The world is your oyster, my friend, so don't eat SOFA PIZZA.
