Last night the baseball heavens collided as we were blessed with one of the greatest games ever pitched and it just so happened to be paired with arguably the greatest baseball announcer major league baseball history. Of course I am talking about CY Kershaw’s, one Hanley Ramirez throwing error from a perfect game, 15 strikeout no-hitter that was narrated by the all-time great Vin Scully who called his 19th career no-hitter. If there were a baseball bible, last night’s Dodger game would deserve a book of it’s own it. Here are some interesting stats that stand out from the two-time CY Young award winning Clayton Kershaw's no-hitter from Wednesday:

  • Only Nolan Ryan had more strikeouts (17 in 1973 and 16 in 1991) than Kershaw’s 15 in a no-hitter in the modern era of baseball (tied with Warren Sphan who punched out 16 in his 1960 no-no).

  • Kershaw’s Game Score of 102 iss the second best over the last 100 years next to Kerry Wood’s 105 back on May 5, 1998 in the game where Wood struck out 20 Houston Astros.

  • The Dodgers organization has 22 no-hitters to their name, which is the most by any team in the history of the major leagues.

  • Kershaw became the only pitcher in the history of major league baseball to accomplished the feat of striking out 15 batters without allowing either a walk or a hit in a start.

And to put a bow on what started of as just another hot ass, middle of the workweek day turned magical it is only fitting that we should paraphrase The Voice of the Dodgers as we segue into Thursday’s daily league recommendations, It's time for the DFS Playbook! Hi, everybody, and a very pleasant good day to you, wherever you may be.
