Thanks Tyler Lyons for giving me the big middle finger after I recommended you and your recent strikeout per inning production over your previous 18 innings, against a team in the Cubs who were among the league leaders in getting punched, out and you were pitching at home. Not sure if Lyons pissed me off more or if it was the Cubs scoring more runs Monday then they have in all eight of Jeff Samardzija’s starts combined this season. Let that sink in for a minute, Samardzija, whose 1.45 ERA is second best ERA in the National League remains winless despite allowing no more than three runs in a start and two or fewer in six of eight. Well, hopefully you have fallen into the habit of following our news feed here at FantasyAlarm, especially prior to game time. If so, here are just two examples where you would have benefited big time in your DFS contests Monday night should you have heeded our advice Tim Lincecum and Tyler Colvin.

Good luck tonight and as always if you have a specific question remember you can always tweet @FantasyNomad and/or post in the comments section below.

My starter of the night (factoring in pricing): Reds Mike Leake

PlayerPos.DraftKingsDraftStreetFanDuelReasoning
Cliff LeeP10,60022,1009,400Expecting the veteran to come out with something to prove after one of his worst outings in his last start, granted it was in Toronto versus a red-hot hitting Jays team. Lee is at home tonight where he owns a 2.05 ERA with 26 K in 22 IP compared to a road ERA of 4.73.
David PriceP10,40021,8798,900Rays may have trouble giving him the run support he needs, but the Mariners lead the AL in strikeouts vs LHP with the 3rd lowest OPS
Mike LeakeP8,20015,6116,800He eats up innings and faces the lowest scoring offense in MLB in the Padres.
Josh BeckettP9,10018,6766,300Marlins struggle on road and Beckett owns a home ERA of 2.66 with about a strikeout per inning. I recommend Beckett as a GPP only play because of his proclavity to give up the longball.

Pitchers I’m Avoiding:

Ubaldo Jimenez: Tigers offense is rolling

Marco Estrada: Owns sixth highest HR/FB rate among qualified NL starting pitchers and has had his struggles at home throughout his career.

Drew Pomeranz: Pomeranz is a two-pitch pitcher who got lucky to make a start versus a poor hitting Mariners team. You will see the real type of pitcher he is tonight when he faces one of the top offenses going this season in the White Sox.

Ryan Vogelsong: He has been great over his last three outings, but he just recently faced the Braves so I expect they will see the ball better against him tonight.

Six Pack of Hitting for Tuesday:

  1. Victor Martinez
  2. Joey Votto
  3. Chase Utley
  4. Adrian Beltre
  5. Jose Bautista
  6. Alex Rios

Discounted Dandy of the Night: Pirates Ike Davis
