Thanks Tyler Lyons for giving me the big middle finger after I recommended you and your recent strikeout per inning production over your previous 18 innings, against a team in the Cubs who were among the league leaders in getting punched, out and you were pitching at home. Not sure if Lyons pissed me off more or if it was the Cubs scoring more runs Monday then they have in all eight of Jeff Samardzija’s starts combined this season. Let that sink in for a minute, Samardzija, whose 1.45 ERA is second best ERA in the National League remains winless despite allowing no more than three runs in a start and two or fewer in six of eight. Well, hopefully you have fallen into the habit of following our news feed here at FantasyAlarm, especially prior to game time. If so, here are just two examples where you would have benefited big time in your DFS contests Monday night should you have heeded our advice Tim Lincecum and Tyler Colvin.

Good luck tonight and as always if you have a specific question remember you can always tweet @FantasyNomad and/or post in the comments section below.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Projections

My starter of the night (factoring in pricing): Reds Mike Leake

Player Pos. DraftKings DraftStreet FanDuel Reasoning
Cliff Lee P 10,600 22,100 9,400 Expecting the veteran to come out with something to prove after one of his worst outings in his last start, granted it was in Toronto versus a red-hot hitting Jays team. Lee is at home tonight where he owns a 2.05 ERA with 26 K in 22 IP compared to a road ERA of 4.73.
David Price P 10,400 21,879 8,900 Rays may have trouble giving him the run support he needs, but the Mariners lead the AL in strikeouts vs LHP with the 3rd lowest OPS
Mike Leake P 8,200 15,611 6,800 He eats up innings and faces the lowest scoring offense in MLB in the Padres.
Josh Beckett P 9,100 18,676 6,300 Marlins struggle on road and Beckett owns a home ERA of 2.66 with about a strikeout per inning. I recommend Beckett as a GPP only play because of his proclavity to give up the longball.

Pitchers I’m Avoiding:

Ubaldo Jimenez: Tigers offense is rolling

Marco Estrada: Owns sixth highest HR/FB rate among qualified NL starting pitchers and has had his struggles at home throughout his career.

Drew Pomeranz: Pomeranz is a two-pitch pitcher who got lucky to make a start versus a poor hitting Mariners team. You will see the real type of pitcher he is tonight when he faces one of the top offenses going this season in the White Sox.

Ryan Vogelsong: He has been great over his last three outings, but he just recently faced the Braves so I expect they will see the ball better against him tonight.

Six Pack of Hitting for Tuesday:

  1. Victor Martinez
  2. Joey Votto
  3. Chase Utley
  4. Adrian Beltre
  5. Jose Bautista
  6. Alex Rios

Discounted Dandy of the Night: Pirates Ike Davis

Player Pos. DraftKings DraftStreet FanDuel Reasoning
Victor Martinez C/UTL 4,700 8,848 4,100 4 HR over last 8 games with a .344 BA over that span and he is 7 for 21 (.333) with 3 HR in his career vs Ubaldo
Salvador Perez C 3,700 5,979 3,000 11 for 30 (.367) HR, three 2B, 5 R over last 7 gms with 3 multi-hit games.
Martin Maldonado C 3,500 4,852 2,800 8 for 21 (.381) with 4th best OPS vs RHP min. 20 AB
Joey Votto 1B 4,600 7,242 3,600 2 HR over last 3 games since moving into the cleanup spot and you get the LvsR matchup vs Padres struggling RHP Andrew Cashner with the game being in homer friendly GABP where all 6 of Votto's HR have come
Justin Morneau 1B 4,700 8,138 3,300 14 for 41 (.341) with 4 HR and 6 doubles in career vs Shields. If you this doesn't sell you then consider A's Brandon Moss who is always in play when a RHP is on the mound, especially one as bad as CWS starter Scott Carroll
Ike Davis 1B 3,000 5,624 2,700 10 for 18 (.556) with 4 BB to 2 K over last 5 games and you get the LvsR matchup versus homer friendly Estrada in hitter friendly Miller Park
Danny Espinosa 2B 3,300 3,993 2,500 6 for 11 with a HR in career vs RHP Arroyo and game is in hitter friendly Chase Field
Rougned Odor 2B 2,000   2,300 Price is still fairly inexpensive and his confidence should be up going 2 for 4 with a HR Monday
Jose Altuve 2B 4,400 7,155 3,200 Tied for most hits in AL last 7 days and you get RvsL matchup where he is hitting .455 against
J.J. Hardy SS 3,700 5,153 2,200 RvsL matchup, game is in Camden, he has a 6-game hit streak going, and is looking for his 1st HR which Smyly may oblige as all three of his HR allowed have been by RHH
Asdrubal Cabrera SS 4,100 5,675 3,100 Heating up as he is 10 for 24 with 2 HR over last 6 games and is 3 for 6 with 2 HR in his career vs Dickey
Everth Cabrera SS 3,800 3,218 2,600 Have the new daddy factor going and he is 5 for 13 (.385) with 2 SB over last 3 gms played

Juan Francisco 3B 4,200 6,459 3,200 Hitting .346 (18 for 52) with 4 of his 5 HR vs RHP and 3rd highest OPS in MLB vs RHP min 50 AB
Matt Dominguez 3B 3,300 4,918 3,000 Tied for AL with most hits over last 7 days (11 for 29, .379 BA with a HR) and is hitting .325 on the season vs LHP
Jose Bautista OF 5,400 8,185 4,400 Red hot, game in Rogers Centre, and is 6 for 19 with 2 HR career vs Masterson
Domonic Brown OF 3,400 5,149 2,600 Betting on Brown breaking out versus Angels starter Matt "I should be a" Shoemaker not a Major League pitcher
Alex Rios OF 4,600 7,074 3,600 Hitting .422 vs LHP and is has been swingin the bat a bit better of late, 6 for 17 (.353) 3 RBI, 3 R, and 2 SB over last 5 games
Gerardo Parra OF 3,900 5,524 3,000 3 for 9 in career vs Strasburg and has at least one hit in every game this month (14 for 44, .318 BA w/ 2 HR)
Michael Morse OF 3,800 5,777   6 for 12 with a HR career vs Mike Minor
Seth Smith OF 4,300 5,559 3,700 LvsR matchup vs RHP Leake, game is in GABP, and dude has been raking 2nd best wOBA last 14 days behind only Tulo, and most hits in MLB last 7 days (jus 6 gms) If you do not believe in Mike Leake tonight that is

Best of luck tonight and and again if you have a specific question remember you can always tweet @FantasyNomad and/or post in the comments section below.
