Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays For 3-30-14

Today we have six games to consider when building a winning DFS lineup. Last night we saw another star go down, Blake Griffin who left the game after playing just under 6 minutes with back spasms. This injury killed many lineups including a few of mine. The beauty of daily fantasy games is we can start off fresh and let the past be the past. My top play yesterday was Chris Paul and he performed like the king of the court going off for 30 points, while dishing out 11 assists, with five rebounds, and three thefts. But enough about last night, as it is time to look at the matchups this evening and uncover some value plays to preserve our salary cap which will enable us to employ some top tier studs.  Below are players I like based on value, production, and matchups. The cheap plays are players who should exceed their value while not costing a lot, the mid-tier group are players that should produce big numbers while not breaking the bank, and the expensive players are high priced players who are worth every penny.

Cheap Plays

*Fantasy points (FP) and pricing are based on Draftkings scoring system.

Shaun Livingston ($4,300) - An ideal cash play with 21 or more fantasy points scored in his last ten games. Livingston doesn’t put up big scoring numbers but his peripheral’s have been outstanding. Over the last seven games he has averaged 4.6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.7 steals. The opponent is Minnesota and they rank 27th against opposing shooting guards this year so there is no reason for him not to reach value.

P.J. Tucker ($5,000) - The Lakers defense last time I checked SUCKS! They give up an average of 108.8 points per game and Vegas has the over/under at a whopping 227.5 where it is safe to expect that Phoenix should score at least 120 points tonight. We can insert just about any Phoenix Suns player, heck maybe even The Suns Gorilla, and not go wrong. So pick at least two to take advantage of this ideal matchup. Tucker is appealing because he has been getting over 30 minutes of playing time which should lead to fantasy production against the defensiveless Lakers and he comes at a reasonable price.

Kent Bazemore  ($4,100) - A GPP play with a neutral matchup against Phoenix. If Bazemore gets another start I wouldn’t hesitate to use him in cash games but coming off the bench would increase his boom or bust risk moving him into more of a GPP option. He is coming off a 9-of-18 shooting performance and ended up with 40 fantasy points, so there is hope his hot hand is rewarded and Bazemore gets 30 minutes.

Mid-Tier Value Plays

Eric Bledsoe (7,900) - The minutes are not a factor anymore, averaging 35 minutes over the last four games, and Bledsoe has performed admirably. The risk tonight is Phoenix blowing out the Lakers, which could lead to reduced playing time.

Deron Williams  ($7,100) - The second highest over/under (210) tonight makes this an ideal matchup to take Williams.  He only played 26 minutes in his last game and had a day of rest in-between so there are no excuses for him not to get the minutes tonight nor for not going off against a TPuppies backcourt that plays defense like a bunch of, shall we say female dogs, as they rank 28th worst in terms of limiting fantasy points to opposing point guards over their last seven games.

Nikola Vucevic ($7,600) - His salary has jumped deservedly so from $7,100 to $7,600 after two huge nights. Expecting repeat fantasy point performances of 55 and 43 might be a stretch but if you are looking for a GPP play due to a tough matchup versus Toronto, this might be the big man to take. Tyson Chandler ($5,500) - Daily fantasy is similar to buying stocks, buy low and sell high. Chandler’s price has dropped and this looks like a good time to be bullish. The rebounds have been there, if he can score 10 points he should hit his value.  With Bogut already being ruled out a double-double is a realistic expectation. Expensive Plays

Carmelo Anthony ($10,300)  - His floor is 35 points because he is usually a lock to put up twenty or moreshots and is shooting 45% from the field this season. Kevin Love and Stephen Curry are both more expensive and have tougher matchups so Anthony has the potential to be the top play of the night.

Goran Dragic ($8,100) - He should have a field day against the hapless Lakers. Coming off two 11-for-17 shooting performances bodes well for another stellar night for Gogi, he is worth a start in all formats.

Good luck and I hope all my picks lead you to being crowned champion in all your DraftKings games.
