DFS MLB Stack: May 25th
We are going with what I like to call a “Vegas Stack” in this short, five-game main slate tonight starting at 7:05 PM EST. Since we have a brand new, beautiful “Vegas Odds” tool here at Fantasy Alarm, why not use it to our advantage? So, in a “Vegas Stack” we allow Vegas to help us identify the teams that we will target for stacking our hitters and choosing our pitchers. All we have to do is use the other tools here at our disposal to pick the right ones. Let’s have some fun with this. The five games we have to work with in this short slate are:
San Diego (Dinelson Lamet) @ New York Mets (Jacob deGrom)
Texas (Nick Martinez) @ Boston (Drew Pomeranz)
Arizona (Robbie Ray) @ Milwaukee (Zach Davies)
Detroit (Justin Verlander) @ Houston (Mike Fiers)
St. Louis (Michael Wacha) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (Kenta Maeda)
Let’s take a look at the five highest Implied Run Totals (IRT) according to Vegas (as of now) in order:
Boston - 5.29
Houston - 5.28
Arizona - 5.00
New York (N) - 4.56
Los Angeles (N) - 4.54
So, these are the offenses we’ll want to target. With some bigger name teams on there, this could get expensive, so strategically, when we look at our pitchers, we can look at two measures from the Vegas Odds page, the actual money line (to represent win probability) and the IRT (to project performance from the pitcher):
Jacob deGrom (-210) with a 2.94 IRT
Kenta Maeda (-150) / 2.96
Robbie Ray (-105) / 3.50
Drew Pomeranz (-200) / 3.71
Mike Fiers (-120) / 3.72
Since, we’ll be spending on bats, I don’t think we’ll be able to afford deGrom in this instance. Since we are “stacking” we’ll focus on the cheaper arms to build around. On DraftKings, we’ll go with Pomeranz ($7,600) and Fiers ($6,500). On FanDuel, we’ll go with Maeda since we have more room to work and just one pitcher there.
Now, we’ll just focus on the top three teams listed above (BOS, HOU and ARZ) to build our lineups and give us the best chance to rack up the points. And, here it is:
DraftKings
P - Drew Pomeranz (BOS) - $7,600
P - Mike Fiers (HOU) - $6,500
C - Sandy Leon (BOS) - $3,400 -- If Vazquez gets the start, put him in there.
