The 2016 MLB Regular Season has come down to its final weekend. We are now down to basically a handful of teams who actually have something to be motivated to play for (aka #TeamMotivation).

In the National League, the Cubs, at 101 wins, are locked in for home field advantage throughout the Playoffs. The Dodgers and Nationals are still battling for home field advantage in the first round, but the Nationals are currently two games up with three games to play for each team. From the looks of it, the Dodgers aren’t exactly looking all that motivated either. As for the Wild Card, the Mets are up two games on the Cardinals and one game on the Giants. The Cardinals and Giants are on the hot seat, and have their respective ace pitchers going for them tonight (more on that later).

In the American League, the Rangers have a two game lead on the Red Sox for home field advantage. Boston will more than likely face the Indians who are one game behind them for home field advantage for the Division Series. The Wild Card currently has the Orioles and Blue Jays tied, with both the Tigers and Mariners lurking around at two games back.

TO SUM THINGS UP:

NOTHING TO PLAY FOR:

Cubs

EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR:

Orioles

Blue Jays

Cardinals

Giants

SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR:

Nationals

Dodgers

Mets

Rangers

Red Sox

Indians

As for the other teams, we’re basically talking about playing for pride. Some teams are going bonkers with their in-game substitutions to get players in (e.g. Angels a few nights ago), but others are already full of young bats and are still motivated while keeping it relatively normal with their subs (e.g. Padres, Brewers, Rockies, and Braves)

When it comes to weather, it’s definitely going to be a little concerning in the northeast, with Washington, Boston, and New York all currently with showers forecasted throughout the evening. The other two spots with some concerns include Chicago and to a lesser extent, St. Louis.
