8/29 DFS MLB Hitting Coach

Tonight’s main slate will be relatively big for a Monday night slate, with 26 of the 30 Major League teams in action.

We also have the return of Coors Field with the Dodgers dropping by for a quick visit. As far as weather is concerned, there should be nothing to worry about tonight.

Gary Sanchez may not be a “must play” but he is 100 percent one of the four best options at catcher tonight. While he did not hit another home run yesterday, he was still able to add another two-hit game to his resume, bringing his season batting average to .405.

Yasmani Grandal has undoubtedly cooled off heavily over the last couple weeks, but he’s still in a great situation at Coors. Keep in mind, he has hit 19 of his 21 home runs in 2016 against right-handed pitching.

Evan Gattis has gone 5-for-10 (.500 AVG) with two homers and five RBIs over this last three starts.

J.T. Realmuto is still crushing it against righties, batting .329/.371/.438 against right-handers throughout the season.

Edwin Encarnacion disappointed heavily yesterday, especially considering  that his buddy Josh Donaldson went ham going TRIPLE DONG. Nevertheless, if he’s going to rebound, I think the odds are elevated with the matchup against Wade Miley, who he has crushed to the tune of .556/.714/1.444 with two homers and two doubles against through 14 career plate appearances.

Miguel Cabrera has gone 24-for-63 (.381 AVG) with three homers, 10 doubles, six walks, and 10 RBIs throughout his career against James Shields of the White Sox.

Adrian Gonzalez not only has a career .491 wOBA against Jon Gray of the Rockies, but he gets to face him in Coors Field, where he has batted .311/.384/.552 with 19 homers over 328 at bats throughout his career.

Mike Napoli has a career .542 OBP to go with a .465 wOBA against Hector Santiago of the Twins.

Daniel Murphy’s 38.3 percent Hard Hit Rate is even more ridiculous when you realize that he has a 95.3 percent Z-Contact Rate (contact rate for pitches in the strike zone). For those who don’t remember, the league average for Z-Contact is roughly 86-to-87 percent.

Jose Altuve is batting .364/.447/.589 this season against southpaws.

Dustin Pedroia is coming off of a huge week last week, where he went 15-for-25 (.600 AVG) with two doubles, four walks, five runs, four RBIs, and two stolen bases.

Cesar Hernandez is a name that I’ve been playing a lot lately, that the rest of the industry appears to hate rostering. Some of that has to do with him being a second baseman, which is a very productive position in fantasy in 2016. He is batting a solid .316/.385/.596 with three homers and three stolen bases over his last 15 games, and has a great history against Tanner Roark

Josh Donaldson, as I have already mentioned, went TRIPLE DONG in the Sunday matinee at Rogers Centre.

Kris Bryant has a 10-game hitting streak where he has gone 20-for-41 (.487 AVG) wth seven homers, three doubles, five walks, 15 runs, and 16 RBIs.

Jose Ramirez gets a matchup against Hector Santiago and his brutal 5.25 xFIP and 1.74 HR/9. Ramirez hasn’t had a ton of history against Santiago, but is a solid 2-for-5 (.400 AVG) with a homer against the former Halo.

Jedd Gyorko has hit 15 of his 22 home runs this season over just 144 at-bats since the All-Star Break.

Corey Seager gets a meeting with Jon Gray, who he has smoked to the tune of .625/.700/1.125 with a homer, double, and two RBIs over his last 10 plate appearances.

Brad Miller only has four hits in 15 career at-bats against Rick Porcello (.267 AVG) but three of those hits have gone out of the ballpark.

Troy Tulowitzki has the most experience against Wade Miley from their time together in the National League West. Tulo definitely had the edge through 23 plate appearances, batting .368/.478/.632 with a homer and two doubles against the former D-Backs lefty.

Tim Anderson is batting .351/.377/.614 with two homers and three stolen bases over his last 15 games.

Bryce Harper is flat out smokin’ the ball right now, batting .379/.471/.672 with three homers and 17 RBIs over his last 15 games.

Mookie Betts now has a 7-game hitting streak where he has gone 13-for-29 (.448 AVG) at the plate with a homer and a couple stolen bases. He matches up very well against Matt Andriese, and should be back in the heart of the Red Sox lineup tonight.

Trea Turner has extended his multi-hit game streak to six after a 2-for-4 outing on Sunday, which included a leadoff homer in the first inning. He legitimately has the highest floor in the industry, and has been worth every penny.

David Dahl happens to be the only Rockies hitter who has been able to take Kenta Maeda deep this season.

J.D. Martinez is batting .429/.455/.714 with a homer and three doubles through 22 career at-bats against James Shields.

Khris Davis has quietly put together a 33 home run season. Seven of those 33 homers have come within his last 15 games, where he has also batted .316/.381/.789.

Scott Schebler is coming off of a monstrous series in Arizona where he went 6-for-13 (.462 AVG) with three homers, three runs, and six RBIs.

Avisail Garcia has gone 13-for-37 (.351 AVG) with four homers, four doubles, and 10 RBIs in the month of August.

Eddie Rosario has gone 8-for-16 (.500 AVG) with a homer, double, and five RBIs, lifetime, against Trevor Bauer of the Indians.

Corey Dickerson is coming off of a solid series against the Astros where he went 6-for-12 (.500 AVG) with a homer, four doubles, five runs, and four RBIs.

Cameron Maybin is looking really good at the plate since coming back from the Disabled List. He is routinely getting on base, putting together a .424 OBP in August.

Alex Gordon has put together his best month of the season in August, where he has batted .283/.353/.554 with seven of his 14 home runs in 2016.
