Hey there guys! We have 14 games to look over for tonight’s main slate that has a roster lock scheduled for 7:05 PM ET.

I know we’re all about Hitting here with the DFS MLB Hitting Coach, but man, how terrible was the pitching last night? Sheesh. Hopefully we can get back on track with the pitching, and we can piggyback the pitching with some good hitting.

Weather has been an issue so far this season, but it doesn’t look like there should be anything that should mess with tonight’s slate.

And as always, players are organized from highest to lowest price using FanDuel salaries.

Buster Posey was able to continue his good stretch of games with another two-hit performance last night against the Reds. He and the Giants will be rewarded with a meeting with Jon Moscot, who is currently sporting a 5.78 xFIP, 3.45 K/9, 2.30 HR/9, and 4.9% swinging strike rate.

Welington Castillo loves facing lefties, and we can see that from his .333/.400/.852 line with four homers in just 27 at-bats against southpaws this season.

David Ross is surprisingly doing great with the extra playing time he’s getting because of Miguel Montero’s injury. He has hits in five of his last six games, and has gone 6-for-20 (.300 AVG) with two homers and seven RBIs over those six games.

Cameron Rupp has gone 10-for-33 (.303 AVG) with a home run, five doubles, and five runs over his last nine games. Just a very good value as the combination of Rupp and Ruiz continues to get the job done in Philly.

Brandon Belt has looked good lately, and will be coming off of a 3-for-4 performance with a triple and two runs scored. As with Posey, I will continue to emphasize how good of a matchup this is for the Giants, and how bad Jon Moscot has been.

Jose Abreu has gotten the job done against the knuckleball throughout his brief Major League career, and has even homered against Steven Wright of the Red Sox. He’s also swinging a hot bat, going 11-for-26 (.423 AVG) with five RBIs over his last six games.

Joey Votto made a statement where he said that he’d rather quit and give up the millions on his contract than play at a poor level. He responded with a big three-run home run against his former teammate Johnny Cueto. He is 11-for-33 (.333 AVG) with two homer and eight RBIs over his last 10 games, so things are definitely looking up.

Wil Myers is batting .371/.420/.581 with three homers and 10 RBIs over his last 15 games.

Matt Adams is giving Mike Matheny no other choice but to continue to give him playing time. He has gone 6-for-12 (.500 AVG) with two homers and four RBIs over his last four games.

Neil Walker continues to be near and dear to my heart with what he has been able to do at the plate. He has never faced Matt Wisler in his career, but PITCHf/x values, and Wisler’s horrible advanced stats definitely lean in Walker’s favor.

Logan Forsythe is swinging a hot bat, and gets to face a lefty tonight in Scott Kazmir. We all know he hits well against lefties, but it’s been insane this season, considering he is batting .476/.500/.905 against lefties this season, with two homers.

Ben Zobrist is a switch hitter who prefers hitting as a RHB against lefties. Over the last three seasons, he has batted .301/.367/.430 against lefties, giving him a good amount of upside tonight against Jon Niese

Jonathan Schoop will be our primary punt play tonight at 2nd. Last season, he batted .301/.329/.563 and hit 13 of his 15 home runs against right-handed pitchers.

Josh Donaldson is 5-for-13 (.385 AVG) with a home run, three doubles, and three walks throughout his career against Martin Perez of the Rangers.

Alex Rodriguez happens to be another AL East 3rd baseman, with Evan Longoria being the other, who absolutely crushes Chris Tillman. A-Rod is 6-for-13 (.462 AVG), lifetime, with four homers throughout his career against Tillman.

Martin Prado has been on (insert FIRE emoji five times). No, seriously, he is in the middle of a 7-game hitting streak, where he has gone 17-for-32 (.531 AVG). He has performed better throughout his career against southpaws, and gets one tonight in Patrick Corbin of the D-Backs.

Evan Longoria has been able to turn his season around, and has homered in back-to-back games. He has homered before against Scott Kazmir, and is at a reasonable price point throughout the industry.

Troy Tulowitzki is in a bit of a cold spell, but gets to face a southpaw in Martin Perez, who he has homered against in the past, and has an OPS of 2.000 after six plate appearances.

Jean Segura has always been better against lefties throughout his career, and that hasn’t changed this season, considering he is 10-for-28 (.357 AVG) with a homer against southpaws. He’ll face Justin Nicolino who he has had success against in the past.

Eduardo Nunez continues to be a breath of fresh air for Paul Molitor and the Twins. He has gone 9-for-30 (.300 AVG) with a homer, five RBIs, and two stolen bases over his last seven games. He has also homered against Collin McHugh previously.

Danny Espinosa has some huge power potential, as we can see with his two homers in his past four games. He’ll face Chris Young who has been struggling to keep balls out of the park, and currently has a 2.16 HR/9.

Bryce Harper needs something to get him going again, and Chris Young may be that something. Harper is 4-for-8 (.500 AVG) with a homer against Young in their previous meetings. Keep in mind, Young has been rocking a 54.9% fly ball rate throughout his career. There could be some fireworks tonight.

Giancarlo Stanton is currently in the middle of a 7-game hitting streak, where he has gone 10-for-26 (.385 AVG) with five homers and 10 RBIs. He’ll face Patrick Corbin who he has gone deep against in the past.

Mike Trout will get a shot against the career minor leaguer, Junior Guerra of the Brewers. Not much to be excited about with Guerra, who doesn’t have much of a resume, and it’s the type of player that Trout could absolutely feast on. His bat has come to life lately, and especially considering he has homered four times in his last nine games.

Dexter Fowler continues to get the job done at the plate, and is starting to show off his speed, stealing three bases in his last two games. He’ll face a lefty tonight in Jon Niese, which is good for Fowler because he has batted .304/.393/.439 against southpaws throughout his career.

Michael Conforto is leading the Majors with a 50% hard hit rate. Last season, no player had higher than 42.8%, which was a mark set by J.D. Martinez of the Tigers. While we can’t expect Conforto to keep that up, it says a lot about what he has been able to do at the plate. A couple other things that says a lot about what he has been able to do at the plate is his .291 ISO and .441 wOBA.

Hunter Pence has gone 14-for-35 (.400 AVG) with three homers, a triple, four doubles, 11 RBIs, 10 runs, and eight walks over his last 10 games. And once again, I want to mention that the Giants Bats > Jon Moscot

Curtis Granderson batted .280/.388/.504 and hit 24 of his 26 home runs against right-handed pitching. Matt Wisler has a career 5.04 xFIP and 44.0% fly ball rate.

Mitch Moreland has been swinging a pretty hot bat, going 7-for-19 (.368 AVG) with a homer, double, and seven RBIs over his last five games. He has homered against Marco Estrada in the past, and has a reasonable chance at doing it again considering Estrada has a 47.5% fly ball rate throughout his career.

Billy Burns is 4-for-10 (.400 AVG) throughout his career against Hisashi Iwakuma. If he can get on base, he’ll definitely be a pest on the bases.

Adam Jones hasn’t been featured in these articles because of his excellent numbers, it’s really just his cheap price on FanDuel. Still, he looks like he has turned it around, reaching base seven out of 17 plate appearances in his last series against the White Sox.

Steve Pearce has been consistently getting starts against left-handed pitching, and even getting opportunities in the cleanup spot behind Longoria. He’s a solid .286/.375/.333 against southpaws, and is dirt cheap throughout the industry.

Billy Hamilton will likely be the Reds leadoff hitter until Zack Cozart returns from his tendinitis. He would be in an excellent situation tonight against Jeff Samardzija, who he has gone 5-for-10 (.500 AVG) with a homer, two doubles, and two stolen bases against in their previous meetings.

Preston Tucker has been platooned to the point where he’d get taken out late in games against left-handed pitchers. With Carlos Gomez likely out, he should be getting an extended look. The power is there with Tucker, but his K/rate has been brutal. His price will make it worth taking the chance tonight against Alex Meyer
