Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 3-25-14

Only four games on the schedule tonight so it is crucial to get the best value picks tonight. Below are players I like based on value, production, and matchups. The cheap plays are players who should exceed their value while not costing a lot, the mid-tier group are players that should produce big numbers while not breaking the bank, and the expensive players are high priced players who are worth every penny.

Very excited for the DraftStreet $150,000 NBA league contest on Wednesday, 3/26. I have at least one ticket into the tournament and there are satellites going on tonight for more chances to win entries into the tournament.

Cheap Plays

*Fantasy points (FP) and pricing are based on DraftStreets scoring system.

Chris Kaman ($9,620)- Pau Gasol is out for tonights game with Vertigo so "The Caveman" will get the start in his place. He is averaging 14 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2 assist, 1.9 blocks, in 27 minutes in 8 starts this season. Those are exceptional numbers for a player that cheap. He is a must-start as long as he starts.

Jodie Meeks ($10,537)- Nothing weak sauce about Meeks as he has played 30 plus minutes in 13 straight games. He has scored less than 20 FP in only four of those games. Makes for a great cash game play as he is a lock for 20 FP with a great chance to reach 25 plus FP.

Matthew Dellavedova/Mo Williams- Both players are just under 8K and will get close to 20 FP. I like Mo more tonight because he is playing more minutes and has a great chance to boom for 20 FP. Dellavedova is no slouch either as he has put up 27 plus FP in two out of the last three games. Both make for great GPP plays and allow cap relief as well.

Mid-Tier Value Plays

Arron Afflalo ($11,269)- Portland is giving up 44.7 FP to opposing shooting guards in the past 15 days, which is worst in the NBA. Also, he had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assist in the previous meeting vs Portland. Combine that with his cheap price and he makes for a solid play tonight.

Monta Ellis ($14,071)- The shooting guard is always a great play because his price is never that high and always produces solid FP. OKC is giving up 41.5 FP to opposing shooting guards in the past 15 days (3rd worst in the NBA) so Monta will have a field day vs the non-existent defense of OKC. Also, he is averaging 33.3 FP in the past three games. Feel confident on playing him in any format.

Jordan Hill ($13,965)- His price has gone up, but so has his production as he is averaging 36 FP in the past two games. However, New York is giving up the fewest FP to opposing power forwards in the past 15 days. Believe his price is too high to play in 50/50 games, but could be worth the risk for GPP tournaments.

Dion Waiters and Raymond Felton are two other players I am targeting tonight. Waiters has been sensational recently by averaging 30.3 FP and 40 minutes of playing time in the past four games. He is one of my top plays tonight because the minutes are there and so is the production. Felton gets to face the Lakers, a team that is giving up 53! FP to opposing point guards in the past 15 days, so he will flourish while being a contrarian play.

Expensive Plays

Russell Westbrook ($15,858)- Is my favorite play tonight because his price is low for him and believe he will have monster game vs Dallas. This is a big game, as both of these teams are battling for playoff seeding. The floor is 30 FP for him, while the ceiling is 45 FP. I will take that all day long for a player that is less than 16K.

Kevin Durant is too rich for my blood as he is over 24K, which means he has too reach above 45 FP just to reach value. I don’t believe he gets there with the Westbrook back. Also, Carmelo Anthony is another player that is very expensive, but will return value. Melo should out produce Durant, while costing three grand less than KD. Find it hard to play either player tonight given so few value plays.

The Raptors have a dream matchup vs the Cavaliers, but their coach said today that he will give Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan more rest during tonight’s game. I would be cautious playing either one of the players. Like Amir Johnson a lot tonight as he has been a beast recently.

Nicolas Batum ($16,041)- Has struggled recently by not exceeding 25 FP in the past two games. However, those games were against Miami and Charlotte, both good defensive teams.  Tonight he faces the Orlando Magic, a team he demolished for 14 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assist, and 1 steal/block in their previous meeting. The Blazers are desperate for a win and Batum will be the reason why they win tonight. Pairing him up with Westbrook is the way to go tonight.
