Daily Fantasy Basketball plays for 2-18-14

Real basketball is FINALLY back which means daily fantasy basketball is also back. There are some great value plays so here are my top plays for tonight. Also, DraftKings is having a $100,000 MegaCrossover tournament on Friday and you can qualify for the tournament for just $3 by clicking the Draftkings link above.

* Fantasy points are based on DraftKings scoring system.

Cheap Players

Dion Waiters SG, Cle- Believe he has major BOOM potential tonight as the Cavaliers play the defenseless 76ers. Granted, most players are boom vs them, but Waiters is averaging 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5.7 assist, & 2.3 steals for 39 fantasy points (FPs) in three games vs Philadelphia this season. Think he makes for a great play in GPPs and 50/50 games.

Jarrett Jack PG/SG, Cle- The “Jack Attack” is my "Cheap Play" of the night. Hopefully he doesn’t get pulled because of a trade, but that is something to monitor before lineups lock. He has also fared very well in two games vs the 76ers by averaging 35.5 FPs in 30.5 minutes of playing time. Understand Jack is a risky player, but one who will provide you with some salary relief if that is what you are looking for and he only has to post 16 FP to reach value.

Gerald Henderson SG, Cha- If you are looking for a boom player who is cheap then look his way. He put up 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assist (38 FPs) in his only game vs Detroit this season. It also helps that he is cheap on most sites.

Other discounted options are Cory Joseph as a cheap play with Tony Parker out, Zaza Pachulia, and Tyler Zeller with Varejao out. Also, make sure to check out Michael Pichan's Daily Dribble article for up to date injury news.

Avoid Nick Calathes tonight because he is no longer starting as Mike Conley makes his return to the Grizzles starting lineup..

Mid-Range Value Plays

Kemba Walker PG, Cha- I am using “Sky Walker” in most of lineups tonight because his price is low and he should have a monster game. His price is only $7,300 on DK and $13,742 on DS which is great value for a player that could reach 50 FPs tonight. He rocked Detroit’s world in their only meeting this season going off for 34 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist, and 3 steals (ended up with 53.8 FPTs). Brandon Jennings is a poor defender so I believe Kemba could get close to those numbers again. His price and potential production make him a must play in my book.

Arron Afflalo SG, Orl- Has destroyed the Bucks this season by averaging 28.5 points (64 FG%), 6.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assist in two games vs them. Another reason to like him is because he is only $10,661 on DraftStreet. Don’t worry about his struggle’s in the two previous games, as they were vs Memphis and Indiana, because both teams have great defenses.

John Henson PF, Mil- This is assuming he plays so make sure to follow @NBADailyLineups for the latest lineup information. Larry Sanders is out so Henson should play major minutes and produce solid fantasy numbers. Always like to compare prices for one site to another as this shows who could be value plays on certain sites. Henson is only $5,300 on DK (8.8% of the budget), compared to his price tag on DraftStreet at $12,640 (12.6% of budget). He makes a great play on both sites but especially on DK where he is a lot cheaper. Henson has double-double potential tonight, is almost always good for a few blocks especially tonight against an undersized Magic squad.

Nikola Vucevic C, Orl- Has been playing a lot better as of late by averaging just over 39 FPs in his last two games. The Bucks have the worst Defensive Efficiency vs Centers in the NBA at -8.6. Think this is the night Vucevic breaks out for a huge game. For his price, he is my center play of the night.

Tristan Thompson PF/C, Cle- Look at that, another Cavalier! Thompson should have another monster game tonight especially with Anderson Varejao not playing, as he is coming off a 25 points and 15 rebounds performance in his last game and should easily produce similar numbers vs the 76ers. Also, his price is only $6,100 on DK and a little more expensive on DS at $12,952. I will be using him in every DraftKings lineup.

Other mid-range players to consider include Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner.

Expensive plays

Chris Paul PG, LAC- Is my top play of the night. Don’t get me wrong, I think LeBron James will have a great night, as well as some other players, but I like CP3 because he is cheaper than some of the other top options. He had 23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assist, and 4 steals vs the Spurs earlier this season.

Paul George SF, Ind- It is baffling how cheap his price is on DraftStreet ($14,346), considering he has played great vs Atlanta this season by averaging 23 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assist, and 2 steals in two games vs them for an average of 42.4 FPs. His production and value should have you starting him with confidence.

Dirk Nowitzki PF, Dal- He was struggling before the All-Star break, but he should come ready to play tonight. He had 45 FPs in the Mavericks only meeting vs Miami this season. Also, the price has dropped on the big German as he is only $14,934 on DS and $7,500 on DK. It is hard to pass up a player of his caliber at such a low price.

Michael Carter-Williams PG, Phi- Another player that should have a great fantasy night while not being priced to high. Mc-Dubs has scorched the Cavaliers defense this season by averaging 21.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8 assist in three games against them (46.5 FPs).

A few other top dollar dogs to consider include, Zach Randolph, Kyle Lowry, and DeMar DeRozan.
