Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays (2-9-14)

Welcome to another edition of my Daily Fantasy Basketball plays. There are a lot of bad defenses playing tonight which makes for a lot of juicy matchup plays. I give you some players that will produce and won't cost alot. Then I breakdown some players that are priced in the mid range value that should exceed that value. Finally, I talk about some expensive players that will produce big numbers.

*Fantasy Points are based on DraftKings.com scoring system (1 PT, 1.25 Rebounds, 1.5 Asssist, 2 Block/Steal, -.5 TO)

Cheap Plays

Brian Roberts PG, N.O.P- Is still cheap on all sites despite back to back games with 30 or more fantasy points (DK scoring). Have him in most of my lineups on DraftStreet as he is only $8,030 there.

Vince Carter SF, Dal- Has been very consistent by scoring 23+ fantasy points in six of the last seven games. He becomes an even better play if Monta Ellis misses the game because that would give Carter more minutes.

James Johnson SF, Mem- This is more of gut call than anything. He is averaging 24.4 fantasy points in the last four games while costing only $3,900 on DK. Cleveland is a terrible defensive team and I think Johnson could get an increase in minutes today because of matchups and it is the second game of a back to back. The minutes played are crucial for him as he is averaging just over 1 fantasy point per minute played (that is awesome).

Mid Range Players

Bradley Beal SG, WSH- Beal is going to break out soon and tonight could be that night. Sacramento has no one to guard Beal who has played 34 or more minutes in four straight games. He gets up plenty of shots(15+ FGA in 9 of the last 10 games), as well racking up assist and steals. If his shots fall then he will be in line for a big night.

Courtney Lee SG, Mem- Has flourished as a Grizzly. A big reason for that is because he averaging close to 39 minutes per game during the last four games. He’s a lock for 25 FPTs and could exceed that with a great matchup vs Cleveland. It also helps that the Cavs are terrible vs opposing shooting guards.

Trevor Ariza, Wsh- This should be a high scoring game as both teams play very little defense. Rudy Gay is known for his offensive shenanigans while being a liability on defense. Look for Ariza to expose Gay and contribute solid numbers across the board. Ariza is as consistent as they come by scoring 30 or FPTs in seven of the last eight games. Start him with confidence tonight.

Marcin Gortat C, WSH- Think he is the best center play for his price. He is as consistent as they come and should have no problems scoring vs Cousins. Also, he has averaged 13.8 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks in 10 career games vs the Kings.

Deron Williams PG, BKN- Ahhh, I hate recommending D-Will, but his matchup and price make him a great play tonight. New Orleans has really struggled vs opposing PGs since Jrue Holiday got hurt. Don’t worry about his last game as they Nets got blown out. Williams has averaged a ridiculous 20.8 points, 10.8 assist, and 2 steals in 9 career games vs New Orleans. Combine all of that with the fact he is only $12,114 on DraftStreet, and you can see why I like him tonight.

Rajon Rondo PG, Bos- Should have a monster game vs the Mavericks tonight. Rondo is averaging 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 10.5 assist in his last two games played. He has owned Dallas in his career (14.3 points, 11 assist, 5.6 rebounds, & 2.8 steals in 6 career games) and will continue that domination tonight. Just make sure he is playing before rolling with him.

Expensive Plays

Jared Sullinger PF, Bos- Never thought he would be this good, let alone, be in the expensive tier. Sully has balled out recently with four straight games of 40 or more fantasy points, including 50 or more in three of those games. This is another great matchup for him as the Mavericks are terrible vs opposing big men. Also, Sullinger won’t kill your budget as he is $15,358 on DS and $7,400 on DK.

Zach Randolph PF, Mem- Is going to oppose his will vs the weak Cavaliers frontcourt. Marc Gasol hasn’t been himself so the Grizzlies will rely on Z-Bo if they want to win. He is a walking double-double and should easily approach 40+ FPTs tonight.

John Wall- Is going to have another monster game tonight. He is averaging a ridiculous 47.5 FPTs at home this season. If you are going to spend big, then he is the guy to spend it on.

Chris Paul PG, LAC- This is a great matchup for him and the Clippers. However, I do not like using players on their first game back from a big injury.  There are a lot of great plays in this game like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner, and pretty much every one else. However, I think this game is a blowout if CP3 plays. Also, all the Clippers are priced extremely higher than what they normally are so that is why I haven’t suggested using any of them. I would think about using Evan Turner who has been very hard to trust, but does have a great matchup and is cheap.
