NBA Weekly Fantasy Basketball Player Rankings: Week 2

Point Guards (Page 1 of 5)

RANKNAMETMGMSANALYSIS
1Damian LillardPOR4The rebounding we have seen to start off the season is very encouraging and giving Lillard the top spot as a reward. Multi-category helper
2James HardenHOU3There are point guards and point forwards, but Harden is point everything and helps out in most categories. The ball is in his hands most of the game.
3Russell WestbrookOKC3Westbrook has the same situation as Harden as the ball is in his hands at all times and we will see a ton of isolation and zero pass possesions from the Thunder.
4Chris PaulLAC4Expect Paul to be top 2 in assists for the week as he will be feeding DeAndre Jordan a ton of alley-oops, per usual.
5Stephen CurryGSW3Still not afraid that Curry's stats will decrease overall throughout the season. If anything, he should be shooting higher percentage shots and have more assists than in 2015-2016.
6Eric BledsoePHX4Bledsoe is another scoring guard who is excellent at driving the lane and drawing contact. When the inside is clogged up he can hit the spot-up jumper.
7Kyle LowryTOR4Lowry will help majorly in scoring and assists and three-point shooting. He draws a ton of doubles all over the court and will be forced to pass.
8Mike ConleyMEM4Should he be the highest paid player in the league? NAH BRAH! Conley does have the ability to take over games, but sometimes it's hard for him to pump the breaks when struggling.
9Rajon RondoCHI4Rondo's assist total should be consistent with last season's because he has good wing and spot-up shooting options, especially with Wade showing he's not finished.
10D'Angelo RussellLAL4Lakers offense looks quicker and they are experimenting with a lot of different lineups. Russell is quick and has shown improvement in avoiding lane traffic. Off the ball? Questionable!
11John WallWSH3Wall is a stat machine who will always get his. It almost seems like the rest of the players stand around and watch as he tries driving. His shooting will need to improve.
12Kyrie IrvingCLE3Irving has the ability to extend layups (like Allen Iverson used to). His acrobatics in the air allow him to always have a good layup release when he draws contact. He can take over the game.
13Ty LawsonSAC5Lawson will be returning to the bench once Darren Collison's suspension is up so now is the time for him to show that he deserves a ton of playing time.
14Isaiah ThomasBOS3There will be games in which Thomas is heavily involved with the Celtics scoring and there will be others in which his assist totals will be higher. He will always find a way to help.
15George HillUT4Hill will need to continue to play on and off the ball until Gordon Hayward returns. B/c Joe Johnson has shown he can be a threat, it will give Hill more room to creat on the ball.
16Derrick RoseNYK4Rose's shot selection was not that impressive in week 1, but his ball handling, agility and conditioning looked great which is promising considered he was limited in preseason.
17Jeff TeagueIND3Teague has a ton of options and will serve primarily as the floor general instead of the on-the ball scoring guard. He will use open lanes wisely
18Dennis SchroderATL4Schroder thus far as the lead guard looks like he will score about 12-15 ppg and will dish 6-7 assists per game. His shooting percentage will be a bit concerning throughout the season.
19Deron WilliamsDAL3Williams transition to more of a shooter than driver has given him new life. He still has the ability to have 20 pt outings and 10 assist games, but health is always in question.
20Jeremy LinBKN3The Nets "Franchise Player" will need to continue to spread the floor, but until the Nets get consistency in their mid-court, expect Lin to shoot more.

Shooting Guards (Page 2 of 5)

RANKNAMETMGMSANALYSIS
1DeMar DeRozanTOR4We're going to give major ups to DeRozan this week because he gets a ton of time with the ball in his hands and contributes in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks.
2C. J. McCollumPOR4Despite the Blazers adding more shooters and playing next to shot-happy Lillard, McCollum will still get a ton of time with the ball in his hands to create.
3Victor OladipoOKC3Oladipo will serve as an excellent off the ball no. 2 option for the Thunder as long as he is smart with the ball in his hands, and stays out of the corner while dribbling.
4Klay ThompsonGSW3Thompson will be seeing more open shots and will serve as both the Durant and Curry bailout scoring option. There will be games where he gets less shot opps.
5Devin BookerPHX4Booker, as expected showed that he will be a good shooting option, but will help fantasy owners mainly with scoring. His minutes per game being in the 30's has been great to see.
6Dwayne WadeCHI4Wade (when he is healthy and plays) has the ability to have No. 1 option-like games and will make a ton of good passes to spread the floor.
7Arron AfflaloSAC5Afflalo should be a big-time scorer with 5 games on the dockett this week. The hope would be for him to be grabbing 3-4 rebounds per game and a couple of assists.
8Rodney HoodUT4Hood is an excellent long range shooter both on and off the ball and will have a ton of shots with Gordon Hayward still sidelined.
9Monta EllisIND3Ellis' ability to create and his quickness down the court will lead to a chunk of time with the ball and shot opps.
10Eric Gordon HOU3Gordon will be Harden's bailout shooting option and will be one of the best bailout options in the league with his quick-release three-point shot.
11Bradley BealWSH4Beal does not play in the paint or move around that much. He waits for his shot at the elbow, and will drive if the middle part of the lane is open.
12Brandon KnightPHX4Knight owners should not worry as he will have games in which he will put up a ton of shots off the bench. He should be able to take advantage of most 2nd units.
13Lou WilliamsLAL4Williams is excellent off the ball and is not afraid to draw contact. He will also help with rebounding and assists very effectively.
14Will BartonDEN4Barton is excellent at setting the screen at the top and immediately gaining position in the post and can create while back down defenders.
15Kent BazemoreATL4Bazemore will have games where he will need to attack the rim as Kyle Korver will remain outside. He will be Millsap's bailout scoring option from the elbow.
16Evan FournierORL3Fournier puts up a ton of shots and will be most beneficial to those in points leagues. He will attempt to get open often off of Serge Ibaka high screens.
17Avery BradleyBOS3Bradley will never be at a loss of playing time as his defense on the court is very needed for the Celtics. He is often left open from long range in which he is consistent.
18J.J. RedickLAC4Redick will help with mainly scoring, but he is always moving and has a very high-percentage outside jumper. He is also an excellent late game option for free-throws.
19JR SmithCLE3Smith puts up a ton of shots and attacks the rim after to keep the play alive. He somehow has his own isolation at times in games on this stacked team.
20Wes MatthewsDAL3Matthews will continue to post-up at the elbow, pass off and then get open from downtown, or he will use his height to power closer to the basket for a shorter shot. He can be a match up problem for other teams.

Small Forwards (Page 3 of 5)

RANKNAMETMGMSANALYSIS
1Giannis AntetokoumpoMIL4Very impressive start as The Greek Freak nearly averaged 10 rebounds per game to start the week. He will help out with every fantasy category due to lack of consistent options.
2Kevin DurantGSW3Durant looks comfortable with the Warriors and as expected going into the season, he will get a ton of time with the ball and will not lose shots.
3LeBron JamesCLE3People want to be down on LeBron, but he continues to prove that father time continues to be behind him in regards to his career.
4Rudy GaySAC5Gay has the best schedule of the week and will continue to be a match up nightmare, drawing bigger defenders outside, and he will post up smaller defenders and grab rebounds over them.
5Carmelo AnthonyNYK4Anthony will not lose shots with Rode on the team. He will still be needed at all points of the game and his post-play will be needed a bit more to start.
6Jimmy ButlerCHI4Butler will be taking higher percentage shots while playing alongside Wade. Butler will drive and call for the ball in the post and he is one of the best defenders in the league.
7Kawhi LeonardSAS3The Spurs No. 1 player will have to continue to take advantage of teams at the free-throw line annd pull-up and shoot. Will be harder to get closer to the rim.
8Paul GeorgeIND3George won't take as many shots in certain games, but he will certainly have a lot of time with the ball in his hands and will help with most categories.
9Danilo GallinariDEN4Gallinari will not only shoot consistently from long-range, but he will also use his size to drive and draw contact.
10DeMarre CarrollTOR4Carroll's defense was missed last season and will get a lot of time on the court because of it and he will call for the ball in the high post.
11Trevor ArizaHOU3Ariza is another great defender who benefits minutes-wise because of it and will often be left open at the top of the key.
12Jae CrowderBOS3Crowder has his own form of isolation in the post and will often pass off and then roll towards the basket to try to get open inside.
13Luol DengLAL4Deng always finds a way to be open towards the corner and will be a beneficial outside weapon when the lane is clogged up and the Lakers need to kick it out.
14Tobias HarrisDET3Harris will frequently look to drive the lane and has a good midrange turnaround post game that he can use to his advantage because of his size.
15Joe JohnsonUT4Johnson showed in week 1 that he was signed for a reason. He is consistent from long range and in the high post, as he will often draw smaller defenders.
16Andrew WigginsMIN3Wiggins will need to continue to work on his passing game and will look to continue to improve on his shot selection by not forcing anything up as much.
17T.J. WarrenPHX4With the Suns lack of front-court weapons, Warren will continue to benefit by calling for the ball inside. He will benefit most when the Suns play teams with shutdown perimeter defenders.
18Aaron GordonORL3The experiment of playing Gordon at the three looks like it should work. He will get the ball outside and then run for the basket to look to make the play inside.
19Thabo SefoloshaATL4Sefolosha will be on and off of waiver wires throughout the season. His playing time, scoring and number of shots will fluctuate. He is a solid perimeter defender.
20Harrison BarnesDAL3Can Barnes become a No. 1 scoring option? Don't think so, but will certainly take a lot of shots to try to prove it to himself.

Power Forwards (Page 4 of 5)

RANKNAMETMGMSANALYSIS
1Anthony DavisNO3With all of the injuries on New Orleans, this is the Anthony Davis show and he will help out in all categories as long as he is on the floor.
2Paul MillsapATL4Millsap is back near the top as his games double this week from last and will have the high post all to himself with Al Horford gone.
3Derrick FavorsUT4Favors' knee looks to not be bothering him as he has already had a double-digit rebounding game. Expect his minutes and scoring to increase this week.
4Blake GriffinLAC4Griffin has been shooting 18 shots per game to start the season and is already averaging a double-double. He will continue to take long-range shots.
5Kristaps PorzingisNYK4Porzingis has played more outside than inside on offense and his size will need to be a presence and his strength inside will need to improve.
6Nikola JokicDEN4Jokic has good footwork and is very powerful with the way he posts up. He will play mainly deep-inside and will draw a lot of contact.
7LaMarcus AldridgeSAS3Aldridge will need to make sure that he is not colliding with Pau Gasol in the paint and will have room to create from the elbow.
8Draymond GreenGSW3There will be low-scoring games for Green, but his hustle will keep his minutes up and he can be relied on for consistent rebounding production.
9Kevin LoveCLE3Love will continue to be most-effective in the paint as he has a lot of good post moves. He shoot look to shoot outside less this season.
10Greg MonroeMIL4Monroe lacks an identity on this team but still has good post moves and can pull down 10 plus rebounds when given the playing time.
11Jabari ParkerMIL4Parker will create mostly from the elbow and will attack the basket a ton as well. When his shot is not on he will slash.
12Serge IbakaORL3Ibaka will continue to be very reliable on defense and very random on offense. He will take a number of long-range shots per game.
13Dirk NowitzkiDAL3Nowitzki was a bit ill and sore to start off the season, but will take a ton of shots inside and out and grab 7-10 rebounds per game.
14Al-Farouq AminuPOR4If the emphasis of the opposing team's defense is guarding the perimeter, Aminu will score a ton inside as he is an excellent slasher.
15Ryan AndersonHOU3Anderson is a match up nightmare because of his long-range shooting, but teams forget that he can drive the lane as well and burn slower defenders.
16Thad YoungIND3Young will be playing both inside and outside on offense and will look to pick and roll a ton and draw contact inside.
17Julius RandleLAL4Randle has a ton of strength and can work his way with the ball to the middle of the paint and that should give him a lot of floater shot opps.
18Taj GibsonCHI4Gibson's playing time will fluctuate throughout the season, but his inside play is needed and will score a ton on second chance opportunities.
19JaMychal GreenMEM4Green's size and speed on transition will be needed to speed up their offensive flow and with Chandler Parsons not 100 percent, he will get more plays.
20Gorgui DiengMIN3Dieng plays specifically in the low block and will score points off rebounds and he will get a ton of rebounds as he is hard to box out.

Centers (Page 5 of 5)

RANKNAMETMGMSANALYSIS
1DeMarcus CousinsSAC5Cousins does everything and with the 5th game, he is the expected top producing fantasy option in week 2.
2DeAndre JordanLAC4As Jordan's # of games has doubled this week, so should the amount of double-doubles.
3Marc GasolMEM4Gasol's long range shooting will be needed as Conley is expected to draw the extra defender and Gasol will be open a ton.
4Dwight HowardATL4Howard is showing hustle and is a stat machine. If the opposing team hacks him, brace yourselves for ppor free-throw shooting.
5Karl-Anthony TownsMIN3Towns has an amazing all-around game and he is very quick off screens on both sides of the ball and will take full advantage of slow defenders.
6Jonas ValanciunasTOR4Valanciunas jumper will make him a bit of a match up problem, and he will also post up deep inside, and pass off if Lowry or DeRozan are open.
7Al HorfordBOS3Horford looks like he is a good fit and will need to utilize more of his inside game on this team b/c many of his teammates create from outside working in the lane.
8Rudy GobertUT4Gobert is instant defense with an incredibly diciplined jump. Anything offensively is a bonus and most likely off of a rebound.
9Andre DrummondDET3Speaking of bad free-throw shooters, Drummond YIKES! He is a rebounding and blocks machine though.
10Pau GasolSAS3Gasol will play at two different parts of the paint on offense. He will set the screen on the high side and either roll or wait for the kickout. He is heavily involved.
11Myles TurnerIND3Turner has been working on a few post moves to get under defenders and this will be taxing on his body as he will draw a lot of painful contact if he stays very low with the ball
12Tyson ChandlerPHX4Chandler has shown that his defensive presence still makes him a big part of the Suns and will get consistent rebounds and blocks. He has a decent jumper that he doesn't use much.
13Nikola VucevicORL3Vucevic has excellent footwork for a big man and is on a team with a crowded back court, but luckily for him, the other Center's lack effective offense.
14Clint CapelaHOU3Capela fits on this team nicely because he will keep plays alive and with most of his team playing outside, he will have the paint all to himself.
15Brook LopezBKN3Lopez is technically the No. 1 scoring option on the Nets but as the story goes with him, we need more rebounding. 10 in 2 games? UGH! He will be rested at times too. UGH!
16Jusuf NurkicDEN4Nurkic won't let up his position in the paint and will continue to get rebounds and blocks. He showed a ton of promise inside as he has scored in double figures in both games he's played in.
17Hassan WhitesideMIA2One of the best rebounders and slashers in the league, but unfortunately has the short slate this week.
18Steven AdamsOKC3Adams will continue to do the dirty work while Kanter draws out the bigger defenders. He is a strict inside presence. Very blue-collar and coaches like his hustle.
19Tristan ThompsonCLE3Expect Thompson's scoring to be a bit less consistent than his rebounding. You can expect 7-10 rebounds per game, but can be left with few shot opps.
20Joel EmbiidPHI3Embiid has drawn a ton of attention for his flash and quick moves, but will still be on a minutes limit despite the Sixers injuries.
