Hoops Fans!

Welcome to the 2016-2017 Fantasy Basketball season. The 2016 NBA offseason was crazy as there were many impact players who changed teams. Kevin Durant is a Warrior! With a good amount of team rotations changed from last season, which players can we trust to produce for our fantasy teams? That’s where we come in!

I hope this guide points you in the right direction, but that is all it should be: a guide. The only way to win a fantasy basketball championship is by learning how a team runs, what to look for on the stat sheet and what to look for between the stats. You will not only learn how to make draft day decisions on your own, but also learn how to run your team throughout the course of the season.

We can give you a #1-300 player rankings sheet, but what are you learning? Nothing! This guide teaches YOU how to be Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich etc. This guide is going to educate you on how to balance your team, what to watch for when watching your players play and standout stats of players who can contribute to your overall roto score and/or head to head category score this season.

Just like an NBA game, this guide is 48 minutes of game planning, screen setting against players you want to avoid and, of course, identifying those clutch players and sleepers who can prove to be difference-makers in your team, resulting in you being a No. 1 seed as opposed to a lottery team.

Don’t like a player we recommend? Don’t draft him. Worried about a team having a tight rotation with barely any wiggle room to add in an eighth or ninth man? Feel free to stay away. You will learn that it is possible for the worst NBA teams to be riddled with sleeper fantasy potential. If you want to be a player, skip right to the rankings portion of this guide and enjoy. But if you want to become a Coach and learn the ins and outs and how to read through the stat trends, this guide will make your lives easier throughout the season.

Be a Coach!

By studying this guide, when you watch your players play (which you should absolutely do on at least a semi-consistent basis) you will be able to tell really quickly just how involved your player is on offense on their respective NBA teams. This guide will make you an even bigger NBA fan and you will see the game of Basketball differently than previous years.

John Wooden, one of the greatest basketball coaches of all-time once said, “Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out”. What you are about to read is not only “draft guide”, but it serves as a class to make you understand the game of basketball. Worried about having a bad draft? Don’t be! The Fantasy Alarm team and this guide are sticking with you throughout the duration of the season, just like a best friend should!

On a personal note, one of my favorite things to talk about is NBA Basketball. If you need any extra assistance leading up to your drafts AND throughout the season please reach out to me on twitter @FenstySports. After six months of waiting, it is time to play again. Lets make this season YOUR season and win you a ring. I look forward to seeing you all at the Championship Parade in April.

Sincerely,

Justin “Fensty” Fensterman
