Over the past few years during the NFL season, Ted Schuster and I have been doing a segment on the SiriusXM radio show called “Right, Wrong or Indifferent.” Basically what this means is a scorecard for all of the predictions, rankings and recommendations we gave out during the previous week for fantasy football.

I feel very strongly about users (readers, listeners, customers, etc) holding fantasy analysts responsible for the information and advice they pass along. To be honest, its way too easy for us to disguise our analysis on a week in and week out basis because there are thousands of excuses to be made. After all, we aren’t the ones playing the game, right? Well, nah, eff that. We need to be held accountable. If we aren’t then its too easy to become soft and not pay as much attention or not watch the games that we are trying to make sense out of. You guys deserve better.

Thus, I will be putting our radio segment down on paper and posting it right here each week on the Fantasy Alarm site. I encourage you to help be hold myself (and Ted!) accountable for the information that we provide. Now be careful here because if you are going to try and come at me with blame for something I didn’t say or take my thoughts out of context than I reserve the right to fire back at you. And you had better believe that I will. Just stick to the actual things that I say and we should have no problems.

This is a good spot to post your submissions for our Haterade segment on the SiriusXM show as well. Just light me on fire in the most negative way possible in the comments section, on the Fantasy Alarm Forums or on Twitter (@Jeff_Mans).

Here is my Right, Wrong & Indifferent for Week 3:

RIGHT

Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions

I felt like the Lions offense would cool off a bit on the road and slow turf of Green Bay. But I still ranked him in the top 10 and had him as a QB play in DFS for our Playbook PRO subscribers. Stafford and this Lions offense has really grown on me over the past few months and are among my favorite fantasy investments on a weekly basis now.

Ryan Tannehill, QB, Dolphins

Everybody was on him of course as the matchup against the Browns was just too good to pass up. I did pass on Tannehill in cash games in DFS because of potential weather this week which I regret, but I did have a solid lineup with him elsewhere.

Carlos Hyde, RB, 49ers

Ted Schuster gets partial credit for this one as we were having an on air discussion about Hyde against the Seahawks defense and Ted made some great points about sticking with him because of the pace and style of the San Francisco offense. Those points made me feel a lot more comfortable rolling with Hyde in seasonal leagues this week and advising many of you to do the same. We learned a valuable lesson here in that RB’s who are true feature backs are so rare that they can rack up fantasy points in any matchup. Do not bench your feature backs, people!

DeMarco Murray, RB, Titans

I had a real good feeling about Murray heading into this week and the matchup was obviously very good. I thought that we’d get more catches out of Murray this week but he hit it really hard on the ground. This Titans offensive line is getting better and with that improvement comes more room for Murray and Derrick Henry to roam. This is going to be a big season for Murray.

Fozzy Whittaker, RB, Panthers

I spent all week telling folks to slow down about Fozzy Whittaker so hopefully you guys listened. Whittaker was the guy who subbed in for Jonathan Stewart in week two when he got injured but that was only because Cameron Artis-Payne was inactive for that game. Artis-Payne got the start this week ahead of Fozzy and out-carried him 12-5. No matter how long Stewart is out, Fozzy is not worth anything in terms of fantasy football.

LeGarrette Blount, RB, Patriots

Another one that many folks knew already but there was no way that Blount wasn’t going to be heavily relied upon in that Thursday night game.  It was slow going for him in the first half but he erupted in the second to carry the Patriots and fantasy owners to wins this week.

Marvin Jones, WR, Lions

I would never predict anybody would have over 200 yards of receiving so that was a little aggressive but it helped us nevertheless. Last week I did the comparison between Marvin Jones and Calvin Johnson to show that the Lions really haven’t lost a single thing in terms of production from their top receiver. Marvin Jones is a clear WR2 and borderline WR1 in fantasy football now and should be started always. The bigger question is what to do with Golden Tate as his star has fallen quite a bit since the arrival of Jones.

Sterling Shepard, WR, Giants

While all of the attention was on Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman, we quietly went away from the spotlight and used Shepard in daily this week. He was so cheap and going up against the Redskins nickel corner which was their glaring weakness in the secondary going into this week.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Vikings

The hype surrounding Diggs after his huge Sunday night performance last week was unreasonable. Sure he is in a better spot now with Bradford at QB but this offense is just incapable of sustaining a WR1 in fantasy football. I’d go ahead and say that Diggs is an every week starter now but his production is going to be sporadic throughout the season.

Hunter Henry, TE, Chargers

My thoughts on Henry were actually more about everything leading up to the game as much as it was his 5-76 yards receiving on Sunday. I was telling ya’ll that there was no chance that Antonio Gates was going to play on Tuesday while the Chargers led us through this stupid maze of “maybe” all week long.

Others I Was Right About

Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys

Todd Gurley, RB, Rams

Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Cowboys

Frank Gore, RB, Colts

Allen Robinson, WR, Jaguars

Jarvis Landry, WR, Dolphins

Will Fuller, WR, Texans

WRONG

Trevor Siemian, QB, Broncos

You could have given me a thousand lifetimes and I would have never, ever predicted that Siemian would have come within 10 points of his production this week. This was a road game, a tough matchup against a very good defense. I am still not a believer in Siemian but after this week I am no longer going to simply dismiss him out of hand. I will dismiss him for sure…but just not without a double check first.

Jameis Winston, QB, Buccaneers

I had to triple check the numbers here as I watched this entire game and had no idea that Winston put up 405 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams defense is tough but they are having real trouble stopping the pass this season. I didn’t think much of Winston heading into this matchup and I probably won’t think much of him going forward either. But, at least for this week I was completely wrong about him.

Wendell Smallwood/Kenjon Barner, RB, Eagles

I am unreasonably upset about this. No, not because Ryan Mathews got knocked out of the game with an injury. Screw Ryan Mathews! What I am pissed about is that there was nothing telling us that Smallwood had passed Barner up as the backup to Mathews previous to this display. We keep the Handcuff Report up to date every single day so if there were ANY indication of that we would know about it. So now Smallwood has a big game and everybody knows that he is in play. It’s not my fault, but I was still wrong in this situation.

Jeremy Hill, RB, Bengals

I actually got the game flow correct in this matchup but never thought that Hill would be able to put up this big a total against the Broncos defense. I’ve been pretty clear that I do not think that the Broncos are nearly as good on defense as they were a year ago, so maybe I should have been able to sniff this one out. These are the misses that keep me grinding though and that itself is worth the “L.”

Terrelle Pryor, WR, Browns

Many other fantasy analysts used Pryor in DFS but I did not. Yeah, I did consider him knowing that he’d likely pass the ball a few times and be the Browns leading receiver but what is that really worth? I don’t like gimmick players and that is what I felt about Pryor then and now.

Tajae Sharpe, WR, Titans

I love Tajae Sharpe and really felt like he could have his coming out party this week against a weak Raiders secondary. Alas, that didn’t quite happen but it doesn’t change my feelings about him moving forward. The Titans offense does go through the running game and thus there will be games like this one that leave the receiving stat sheet empty.

Phillip Dorsett, WR, Colts

I gave Ted credit for the one he talked me into and now I get to bash him for the one that he got wrong. Dorsett had a real tough matchup against Jason Verrett and he got shut down bad. There will be better days for Dorsett over the next four to six weeks until Donte Moncrief returns but this one was a big disappointment.

Jared Cook, TE, Packers

God forgive me for ever trusting Jared Cook. The Lions are terrible against TE’s mostly because they have no linebackers or safeties that are either healthy, talented or both. Richard Rodgers did catch a short TD after Cook left the game with an injury but this one is still my fault for believing.

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Vikings

I had a terrible week with grading tight ends. I spoke all week about how the Vikings offensive line injuries would result in Rudolph staying in to help block more this week. Then he goes out and drops a 7-70-1 on the defensive rich Panthers. Awful advice from me on Rudolph and several TE’s this week.

Others I Was Wrong About

DeAngelo Williams, RB, Steelers

Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals

Randall Cobb, WR, Packers

Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Broncos

Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins

Trey Burton, TE, Eagles

INDIFFERENT

Andrew Luck, QB, Colts

For some reason, everybody in fantasy football is undervaluing Andrew Luck. Make no mistake here people, this guy is one of the best QB’s in the NFL. I had him for a much bigger game this week but 300+ yards is never something to scoff at. He did miss out on a 70 yard TD to Chester Rogers which would have put his afternoon into the “right” pile for me and for his owners.

Kenyan Drake, RB, Dolphins

It was a stretch when I first announced that I would start Drake ahead of Jay Ajayi this week. That was on Wednesday when we first knew Arian Foster would be out for sure. By Sunday morning though it was announced that Drake would indeed start which took the bloom off of this rose a little bit. Then Ajayi winds up getting the winning touchdown run and everything is ruined.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Jets

I was 100% sure that Marshall would play on Sunday against the Chiefs and he did exactly that. Even more was that he wasn’t limited at all despite the knee injury.  Yet, he wound up doing jack squat for fantasy owners as he put up just three catches for 27 yards.

Tyrell Williams, WR, Chargers

Williams worked out just fine in seasonal fantasy this week but in daily he was less than stellar. Since he was a GPP play only for me this week he doesn’t get the nod in the right pile and instead winds up here. I really like this kid though and expect him to be a regular contributor to fantasy teams. I hope that you were able to land him on the waiver wire two weeks ago.

Cameron Brate, TE, Buccaneers

Brate was the third highest scoring TE this week. He hauled in two touchdowns and made five grabs against the Rams. No, I didn’t rank or project Brate anywhere close to those number this week but I did tell you all that he was the TE1 on this Buccaneers team. I had to fight off SO MANY Austin Seferian-Jenkins truthers out there in the process but hopefully, if you guys listened you saved yourself some waiver dollars and have a viable fantasy asset at your disposal.
