Injuries are the bane of a fantasy football owner’s existence. The NFL does such an amazingly poor job at reporting and acknowledging injuries and thus it makes it incredibly difficult to find useful information.

But on Friday’s the NFL has an obligation to report the true status of each player on every roster. It’s the closest we’ll get to knowing who is in or out for this week in the NFL. So the thing to do is to use this information along with the daily practice reports to sort out who is likely to play and sit this week. Only after the status reports come out on Friday does the rest of the week’s activity really make sense.

So, every Friday I will be sending you reports of all at risk players across the NFL. I’ll include the players who are definitely OUT for the week as well as those who are definitely playing. So the focus will be on the questionable players for the week. These reports will tell you whether or not you can relax or wait for the NFL inactive reports on Sunday morning.

Let’s take a look at the Week 16 Practice Reports:

IN

Roy Helu, RB, Redskins – Toe

Cam Newton, QB, Panthers – Back

Andre Johnson, WR, Texans – Concussion

Charles Clay, TE, Dolphins – Hamstring

Roddy White, WR, Falcons – Knee

Harry Douglas, WR, Falcons – Foot

Percy Harvin, WR, Jets – Ankle

Eddie Lacy, RB, Packers – Eye

C.J. Spiller, RB, Bills – Collarbone

OUT

Nick Foles, QB, Eagles – Collarbone

Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers – Collarbone

Ryan Mathews, RB, Chargers – Ankle

Carlos Hyde, RB, 49ers – Back

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Vikings – Ankle

Daniel Thomas, RB, Dolphins – Knee

Rashad Jennings, RB, Giants – Ankle

Russell Okung, LT, Seahawks – Chest

Max Unger, C, Seahawks – Ankle

UP IN THE AIR

Frank Gore, RB, 49ers – Concussion

Gore was knocked out last week and has one less day to pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol. He was able to practice on a limited basis the past two days but will still need to graduate the protocol in order to play against the Chargers on Saturday night.

Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers – Knee

Crabtree practiced the past two days and is fully expected to play in week 16.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Texans – Ankle

Hopkins has not been able to practice at all this week and must be considered a long shot to play this week. Bump up Andre Johnson’s value if Hopkins is indeed inactive on Sunday.

Julio Jones, WR, Falcons – Hip

Julio Jones hasn’t practiced in two weeks now. The latest report out of Atlanta is that Jones will give it a go against the Saints on Sunday but I am very skeptical to say the least.

Julian Edelman, WR, Patriots – Concussion

The Patriots are insanely quiet about injuries and thus there is nothing to report about Edelman until the final word comes on Sunday morning.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts – Hamstring

Hilton didn’t practice all week and is a long shot to play this week. The Colts have nothing to really play for at this point so it makes no sense to rush Hilton back before he is 100%.

DeMarco Murray, RB, Cowboys – Hand

Murray is going to give it a go on Sunday though he will be taking quite a risk with his broken hand. Assuming he is active there is just no way to leave him out of your week 16 championship game lineups.
