Were you one of those people who liked report card day back in school? I wasn’t but not for reasons that you might think. Being the youngest of five my parents really didn’t care what kind of grades I got because at that point they had seen it all. Even at a young age I had a thirst to learn and to know. I would pay attention to the things that I wanted to learn about and drift off when the class was talking something I didn’t care about. This happens in fantasy sports all of the time except now I am the teacher, which sucks a lot more than I thought it did by the way.

So each week I will be going over all of my rankings, projections, lineup advice and strong opinions and letting the record speak for itself. Obviously this is a risky proposition considering if I am wrong too much it could be a severe hit to my career. But I have confidence because fantasy football is something that I love and have a desire to learn about every single day. So despite the risk, I accept this challenge.

Here is the second edition of Right, Wrong or Indifferent taking a look back at NFL Week 4:

RIGHT

Mike Glennon/Tampa Bay Offense

Josh McCown sucks. I mean honest to goodness here folks, he is absolutely terrible at playing QB. The fact that the Buccaneers didn’t realize this feeds right into Lovie Smith’s one weakness and that is evaluating talent from another system/scheme. But Mike Glennon did a hell of a job for this team last year and is the guy they need to install here and leave alone. The fact that Glennon recognizes that he needs to alter his throwing style in order to accommodate the Bucs taller WR’s is what separates him from the likes of McCown.

Glennon was my go to QB2 in pretty much every “I start 2 QB’s and have one on a bye this week…” type of questions this week. I also correctly predicted the Bucs victory over the Steelers this week on my SiriusXM show Friday. This unit isn’t nearly as bad as many thought after the Atlanta game last Thursday.

Keenan Allen

Keenan Allen was firmly in my top 14 WR’s this past week and I must have fielded 80+ questions about him on the phone lines, Facebook, Twitter and email. I understand that some of you might begrudge him not getting in the endzone but if 10 catches for 135 yards isn’t enough for you then you are either playing the wrong game or the rest of your team is really the problem. The TD’s will come for sure but for this week Allen finally gave you the return we all were expecting when we selected him in the fourth round this season.

Jerick McKinnon

If you haven’t actually watched the Falcons/Vikings game yet I strongly suggest that you do so. No, Red Zone Channel does not count in this instance. Watching Jerick McKinnon run the football made you remember what Adrian Peterson used to bring to this Vikings offense. Dare I say that what we saw on Sunday was an UPGRADE from even Adrian Peterson? Like I say…watch the tape! As great as Matt Asiata has been for fantasy purposes with his TD’s it is obvious that he and McKinnon are not from the same planet talent wise. This guy is the one that you want to own in the Vikings backfield as he’ll be the one leading folks to fantasy championships later this year. I will fully admit that when I was recommending him to some of you guys this week I never expected this good of a game but that is what it is all about.

Randall Cobb

Jordy, Jordy, Jordy…that is all we ever hear anymore!! Well this week I spent a lot of time explaining to everyone that Cobb always burns the Chicago defense and that is exactly what happened again on Sunday. Entering the game Cobb had 25-430-4 against the Bears including the playoffs. Add another 7-113-2 to that total and make sure you buy him up when the Bears visit Lambeau on November 9th.

Frank Gore/49ers Run Game

Every week I yell and scream that I know how to run the 49ers better than their current coaching staff and I firmly mean that. Finally, against a potent offense in the Eagles they decide to actually commit to the running game and what do you know? The 49ers get a victory. Now everybody seems to recall that this is the formula the 49ers have used to win a crap ton of games the past three seasons. I started Gore everywhere and it paid off big time for me sticking to what I know is right and hoping that eventually the coaching staff figures it out.

WRONG

Kirk Cousins

This was quite possibly my worst call in quite awhile and possibly so far this season. I love what I have seen from Kirk Cousins and it was a perfect matchup at home against the Giants. The fact that the Giants scored at will was even better! But he was trying to do too much and really forcing the ball down the field which led to turnover after turnover. I still have confidence in him going forward but this week was a complete mess for me and anyone who I advised to start him.

Arian Foster

Never in a million years did I think that Arian Foster would actually play after sitting out most of the week of practice but of course he did. Now he absolutely sucked which is good for those that I advised to not even consider him this week. But for those that I did advise on Alfred Blue it didn’t turn out well. This could go in the “indifferent” pile but I was completely wrong on the situation which is a mark on me no matter how it turned out.

Calvin Johnson

I am thoroughly disappointed in myself about this one. This is a case of me not fully trusting in what I actually saw and being too much of a pussy to go against the rest of the industry. The biggest issue I have with other “fantasy experts” is that most of them do not watch football. They watch the “Red Zone Channel” or read boxscores all Sunday afternoon. But football is a sports in which you gain SO MUCH knowledge by seeing the performance instead of reading about them. I saw Calvin Johnson go down with the ankle injury in week three. I even tweeted about it during the week and was told that Megatron’s injury was no big deal. But deep inside my soul I knew better and yet didn’t have the balls to drop the best receiver in the league down with a great matchup on hand. This is the type of move that is supposed to separate me from the sheep and in this case I failed. The good news is that it sure has hell won’t happen again.

Atlanta DST

I have been terrible at playing defensive roulette so far this year. Granted, I am fortunate to have the Texans and Bengals defense/special teams in most of my leagues but that doesn’t help any of you. This week I was feeling a couple of turnovers for the Falcons against Teddy Bridgewater in his first NFL start and possibly some Devin Hester return game love. Now Hester did indeed make a big impact but unfortunately it was on offense and not special teams. The Falcons defense sucks and I need to stop falling in love with special teams play when playing this game.

Greg Jennings

When Bridgewater took over for the injured Matt Cassel, he was fixated on Greg Jennings on every drop back. I was loving Jennings as a spot start and low end DFS play this week but it didn’t work out the way I had planned. Well, Bridgewater indeed was fixated on one WR most of the afternoon but it wasn’t Jennings. Jarius Wright came out of nowhere to go for 8-132 which is what I was hoping for from my man Greg Jennings.

INDIFFERENT

Doug Martin

I am really bummed with Martin’s performance this week. Now to be fair to me and my love for him this week, I did constantly say that he would carry the load including goal line carries, which is exactly what happened Sunday. Overall I am disappointed that Martin didn’t get more yards but we still got what we needed from him from a fantasy perspective. Thus he gets put into the indifferent bin this week.

Matt Asiata

I did like Asiata this week (#13 RB in Non-PPR) and had him in the DFS Playbook as well. But I am not drinking the Kool-Aid after this or any of this TD heavy performances. Jerick McKinnon is the near future in Minnesota’s backfield so my indifference all week as to Asiata will be justified soon if it hasn’t been already.

Ryan Tannehill

I predicted that he would have 3+ TD’s against the Raiders this week and he did…until Daniel Thomas’ TD reception was called back for holding. Still, 278 yards passing, 2 TD’s and 35 rushing yards are a very solid performance from Tannehill. The air is still not clear between him and head coach Joe Philbin which should make for some interesting conversations the next time Tannehill has an off day. But for this week you definitely weren’t hurt by what Ryan Tannehill of this Dolphins offense put up.

Allen Robinson

Blah…I was high on the Jaguars offense this week and while it wasn’t a complete disaster, I figured them for more output across the board. Robinson in particular I was high on this week. His five catches were right in line with my projection but 38 yards were a disappointment. Thus, he got you by in a PPR format but in standard leagues it didn’t feed the bulldog. When you factor in that Cecil Shorts left with an injury half way through this game it becomes even more bothersome.
