Tonight’s Strategy

Lineup construction should be simple today with only a few high-salary players on the slate. If you fade Anthony Davis (GTD), you can use just about anyone.

At the time of writing this article most of the Vegas lines were offline with so many GTDs. That is why you will see no mention of them.

As always, all fantasy ppg numbers are FanDuel specific.

With a busy day on the horizon, I bring you today’s Position Coach Article.

Point Guard

Chris Paul tops the list today at the PG position facing a Lakers team that allows the fifth most fantasy ppg to the one. I say he drops a 50-spot.

If you decide to fade Paul, look at John Wall (GTD-finger). He gets a positive match-up facing the Sixers, as well as having the highest true usage rate on the slate.

George Hill is a nice late bullet tonight facing a Magic team that allows the sixth most fantasy ppg to the one. Hill can easily drop 35-to-40 fantasy points, and is due to do so.

I may hate myself for saying it, but I like Tony Parker tonight. With lack of choice, a great match-up, and the fact he is averaging over 27 fantasy ppg in his last six on the table, I must take a shot here for the price.

T.J. McConnell has a horrible match-up tonight with Washington allowing the third fewest fantasy ppg to the one. He also is playing heavy minutes and averaging nearly 30 fantasy ppg over his last six. With little to choose from, I will take it.

Shooting Guard

The two is thin tonight with little to spend up on. If Jimmy Butler (GTD-illness) does not play, then Dwyane Wade is the top play at the two tonight.

Bradley Beal is averaging well over 30 fantasy ppg in his last six games and should be heavily owned tonight, for good reason.

The only Phoenix player I would use outside of maybe Eric Bledsoe in a GPP is Devin Booker. The Spurs are allowing the ninth most fantasy ppg to the two while Booker is averaging over 40 fantasy ppg in his last two.

The Lakers are allowing the fourth most fantasy ppg to the three while J.J. Reddick has scored over 70-fantasy points in his last two games.

If Anthony Davis sits tonight, Tyreke Evans certainly gets a bump on a slate full of possible hiccups. If he gets the playing time, he has shown he can average over 1.65 fantasy points per minute.

Small Forward

If Jimmy Butler plays tonight he is the top play at the three. He’s a match-up-proof player with a positive match-up against the Pelicans who have allowed the 10th most fantasy ppg to the three. No SF on the slate drops 60-spots like Butler does.

Kawhi Leonard gets a positive match-up versus the Suns while averaging over 40 fantasy ppg in his last five. He is the guy to go with if you do not use Butler.

The Sixers are allowing the eighth most fantasy ppg to the three. Otto Porter has 40-fantasy point upside, see where I am going? He will be highly owned tonight by the DFS world, and myself.

Robert Covington still has a price-tag of $5,500 on FD averaging nearly 30 fantasy ppg over his last six.

Luol Deng is a nice value with 30-fantasy point upside for cheap today. He gets the benefit of the best defensive match-up on the Lakers with the Clippers allowing the seventh most fantasy ppg to the three. I am all in here.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis is the top play at the four tonight. With little to spend up on, for the most part, I see no way you fade a player who can drop a 70-spot on a slate with so few available. To put this into perspective, he has dropped two 70-spots to compliment four 60-spots this season.

If Davis sits, look at Terrence Jones. Otherwise, no interest there.

LaMarcus Aldridge continues to find his way into my lineups. The Suns are allowing the eighth most fantasy ppg to the four this season. Prior to his last game Aldridge was averaging over 40 fantasy ppg in his previous four.

Julius Randle continues to prove he is going to produce regardless of match-up. Not only did he drop nearly 40-fantasy points in his last game versus the Clippers, he is averaging over 35 fantasy ppg in his last seven.

The Wizards are allowing the seventh most fantasy ppg to the four this season and Joel Embiid is also inactive today. All this suggests that Ersan Ilyasova should take on a larger role in the offense and play plenty of minutes. What is not to like here?

Nerlens Noel should start at center tonight with plenty of minutes up for grabs. He has that ability to grab you 35-fantasy points if he gets the court time for cheap.

Center

Rudy Gobert for the first time ever tops my list of centers tonight. The Magic are allowing the eighth most fantasy ppg to the position while Gobert is averaging well over 30 fantasy ppg in his last eight. With not much in the way of sure things at this position tonight, I am going Gobert. Love his price on DK.

DeAndre Jordan still looks more attractive with no Blake Griffin and gets a great match-up with the Lakers allowing the fourth most fantasy ppg to the position.

Martin Gortat is like catching lightening in a bottle at times but benefits from a great match-up tonight with the Sixers allowing the sixth most fantasy ppg to the position. On a good night, he can easily drop a 35-spot.

Jahlil Okafor should see some action after a four-game hiatus. This is a chance for Okafor to prove his worthiness in a crowded Sixers frontcourt so I expect him to show up. GPP only.
