Whelp, Week 13 is here and with it comes another addition of Waiver Flavor: Flavor of the Week. Injuries continue to pile up here as the fantasy season nears its playoff stages which brings about some new names to the most added list as we head into Week 13.  So without further ado let’s break down the top players that owners snagged off the waiver wires to help fill the voids on their fantasy roster.

Quarterbacks

Brian Hoyer, HOU – Hoyer returned in Week 12 against the Saints after missing one game due to a concussion and threw for 205 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  Prior to his injury against the Bengals in Week 10 Hoyer was lighting it up, throwing for 12 touchdown passes over the previous five weeks. For the season Hoyer has thrown for 1,909 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes attempts. In Week 13 the Texans will face the Bills who have allowed the 17th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ – Fitzpatrick has been flying under the radar this season as his ownership is still below 40 percent despite averaging nearly 17 fantasy points a game this season.  Fitzy is coming off a lights-out performance against the Dolphins where he threw for 277 yards and four touchdowns.  For the season Fitzpatrick has thrown for 2,476 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 58.5 percent of his passes. The Jets face off against the Giants in Week 13 who have allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Running Backs

David Johnson, ARI – With both running backs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington suffering injuries in Week 12 the Cardinals will turn to rookie David Johnson to likely fill the void in the backfield.  Johnson carried the ball eight times for 21 yards and a touchdown last week against the 49ers and draws a favorable matchup in Week 13 against the Rams who have allowed the 12th most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

Spencer Ware, KC – Ware had his second straight big game as he filled in for the injured Charcandrick West as he carried the ball 19 times for 114 yards and a touchdown against the Bills in Week 12.  Unfortunately for those who made Ware the most added player this week Charcandrick West has been practicing in full and will likely return to the starting role however Ware is a must-own handcuff and could have earned a bigger piece of the pie even with West back.

Wide Receivers

Doug Baldwin, SEA – Baldwin was the most added receiver this week and that comes as no real surprise following his Week 12 performance where he caught six passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.  Baldwin has caught 19 passes over the last three weeks for 339 yards and four scores as the Seahawks passing attack has begun to ramp up. For the season Baldwin has caught 50 passes for 684 yards and six touchdowns.  A tough matchup against the Vikings await the Seahawks in Week 13, however with Jimmy Graham done for the season Baldwin could end up seeing even more targets.

Devin Funchess, CAR – Funchess struggled against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving as he caught just two passes on four targets for 19 yards but in Week 13 the Panthers will face off against the horrid Saints secondary which has fantasy owners looking for more shares of the rookie wide receiver.  If Funchess is able to get the targets from Newton he should be in for a solid game as Cam figures to be the highest scoring QB in Week 13.

Tight Ends

Scott Chandler, NE – Chandler finds himself as the most added tight end as we enter Week 13 after Rob Gronkowski suffered a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for at least this week and maybe a few weeks thereafter.  Chandler caught five of 11 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Broncos which bodes well for his productivity in the Patriots' offense while Gronk is out.  In terms of fantasy Chandler does draw a tough matchup against the Eagles in Week 13 who have allowed the second-fewest points to opposing tight ends this season.

Zach Miller, CHI – Miller has caught four touchdowns over the last four weeks and got the start in Week 12 against the Packers with Martellus Bennett out with injury.  Though Bennett is expected back in Week 13 it appears that Miller has become an end zone favorite for Jay Cutler and given his depleted receiving corps that bodes well for Miller’s fantasy prospects even if he doesn’t see many targets throughout the game.
