Week 10 is here and with it comes another addition of Waiver Flavor: Flavor of the Week.  Some of the top added players this week have topped these charts in weeks past but there are also some newcomers thanks to one incredibly favorable fantasy matchup that has many owners trying to get a piece of the action in their lineups.  Let’s take a look at the most added players heading into Week 10 shall we?

Quarterbacks

Derek Carr, OAK – What more is there to say about Carr at this point other than the Raiders have finally found their franchise quarterback.  Over the last three weeks, Carr has thrown for 11 touchdowns with just one interception which gives him 19 touchdowns and just four interceptions on the season while he has completed just under 64 percent of his pass attempts.  The Raiders' schedule is incredibly favorable over the next few weeks as they face the Lions, Titans and Chiefs who all struggle against the pass.

Kirk Cousins, WSH – Safe to say not many ever expected to see Cousins as one of the Flavor of Week candidates but he enters Week 10 with a very favorable matchup against a Saints defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.  Cousins will have his full artillery at his disposal with Pierre Garcon, Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson all finally healthy at the same time.  To put in perspective just how bad the Saints defense has been against the pass, over the past three weeks they have allowed 13 passing touchdowns and no less than 333 yards through the air.  If there was ever a time to put your eggs in the Kirk Cousins' basket it will be now.

Running Backs

Jeremy Langford, CHI – Langford turned in a performance many were expecting from him in Week 9 as he filled in for the injured Matt Forte, and totaled 142 yards from scrimmage while adding seven catches and finding the end zone for his second career touchdown.  As long as Forte is sidelined, Langford will offer up plenty of value but the Bears draw some tough matchups over the next few weeks starting in Week 10 against the Rams and it should be noted that Matt Forte practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday which could indicate his return is coming sooner rather than later.

James Starks, GB – After weeks of outperforming Eddie Lacy the Packers have finally given in and named James Starks their starting back for Week 10 against the Lions who are currently allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.  While the Packers' offense is far from run-heavy, Starks does contribute in the passing game and has the ability to break off some long runs which should help his value even if he only sees around 15 carries on Sunday.

Wide Receivers

Brandon LaFell, NE – This has been hinted at since the Patriots activated LaFell two weeks ago against the Jets and targeted him early and often as they understand he plays a key role in their passing attack.  In Week 9 he notched his first 100-yard game of the season and put the rest of the fantasy world on notice that he is back and healthy.  LaFell is still seeing around eight targets a game despite having to compete with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski but his skillset as the team’s outside receiver and the trust Tom Brady has in him bodes really well for his value for the remainder of the season.  Week 10 brings about a very favorable matchup against a Giants secondary which has allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.

Stevie Johnson, SD – The injury to Malcom Floyd has made Johnson the unquestioned No. 1 receiver in San Diego and he deserves to be owned as such.  The Chargers are a pass heavy offense and Johnson has experience with being a team’s No. 1 receiver dating back to his days in Buffalo where he notched three straight 1,000-yard seasons.  Look for Rivers to target Johnson early and often as they try and develop chemistry with one another as only he, Antonio Gates and Danny Woodhead can be trusted in that passing attack.

Tight Ends

Jacob Tamme, ATL – Tamme has seemingly taken over as the Falcons' No. 2 receiving option due to the injury of Leonard Hankerson and the declining skill of Roddy White.  Over the past five weeks Tamme has seen at least 10 targets three times and no less than five in the other two which bodes really well for his production. His value is much better in PPR leagues as he has only found the end zone once this season but the Falcons' pass heavy offense will keep his standard league production relatively steady.

Jordan Reed, WSH – It’s a little surprising that Reed was available in as many leagues as he is given his skillset but he found himself as the second-most added tight end off of waivers this week and has his ownership levels right around 70 percent.  Reed caught a garbage time touchdown in Week 9 against the Patriots to save his fantasy owners' bacon, but in Week 10 he finds himself up against a Saints defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season and a defense that has allowed 13 passing touchdowns over the past three weeks.  Reed, along with the rest of the Redskins' passing attack, should be in for big fantasy days on Sunday.
