We enter Week 6 with some terrible news for owners of Jamaal Charles as the Kansas City running back tore his ACL on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season.  Week 6 also brings about the bye weeks for the Cowboys, Raiders, Rams and Buccaneers.  In this week’s Waiver Flavor article, we tell you what running back will likely replace Charles in KC and who are the top waiver adds to help fill the bye week voids.

Quarterbacks

Josh McCown, CLE – McCown has been fantastic since retaking the starting QB job, throwing for 1,154 yards with six touchdowns and one interception over the past three weeks.  The upcoming schedule for McCown is certainly not a favorable one as he draws Denver, St. Louis and the Cardinals but with bye weeks coming up and the likelihood that the Browns will need to throw the ball to stay competitive, McCown could still put up decent fantasy numbers.  It is worth noting that Denver’s defense saw injuries to DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib on Sunday that have them questionable for their matchup against the Browns and would make things a bit easier on McCown.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ – Fitzpatrick is coming off the bye and draws a Redskins defense that had allowed five touchdowns to opposing QBs over the past three weeks.  Fitzpatrick has thrown seven touchdowns over the first four weeks of the season and with a healthy Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall to throw to, Fitzpatrick should be a good option over the next few weeks for those looking for a bye week fill-in.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Sam Bradford, PHI – Bradford could be on your waiver wire if an owner had given up on him after struggling over the first three weeks.  Bradford has since turned the corner, throwing for 603 yards and five touchdowns over the past two weeks.  Bradford and the Eagles draw the New York Giants in Week 6, who just allowed Colin Kaepernick to throw for 262 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5.

Running Backs

Charcandrick West/Knile Davis, KC – Terrible news struck the Chiefs on Sunday as Jamaal Charles suffered a season ending knee injury.  In his place West took over the backfield as he rushed for 31 yards on seven carries.  Entering the season, Davis figured to be Charles’ main handcuff and likely found himself drafted by many Charles owners just in case an injury did occur.  Head coach Andy Reid has stated that both backs would split time in the backfield but given the usage this season, West is the player I am looking to own first.

Charles Sims, TB – Sims turned in another solid PPR performance on Sunday as he carried the ball a season-high 12 times for 51 yards and added four catches for 85 yards. The Buccaneers are on a bye week but they find themselves with a string of favorable matchups starting in Week 7 against the Redskins.  Sims is the clear No. 2 behind Doug Martin but seeing as, more often than not, the Buccaneers will be trailing this year Sims should maintain his fantasy value in PPR leagues due to his usage in the passing attack.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Thomas Rawls, SEA – Marshawn Lynch’s status for Week 6 is still up in the air as he deals with a hamstring injury and with it Rawls continues to gain value.  In Week 5, Rawls exploded for a career-best 169 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals.  The Seahawks are a run-first offense and find themselves up against the Panthers defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season in Week 5 which certainly bodes well for Rawls.

FAAB Bid- $15-$20

Wide Receivers

Willie Snead, NO – Snead is certainly no longer a secret and likely hasn’t been for some weeks now, yet he finds himself owned in just under 30 percent of standard leagues.  Snead figures to be the top receiver claimed this week as he is coming off a career-best six catches on 11 targets for 141 yards and finds himself as the Saints' leading receiving through the first five weeks of the year.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Kamar Aiken, BAL – With the Ravens receiving core decimated by injuries, Aiken was the No. 1 receiver on Sunday and caught four of nine targets for 78 yards and a touchdown.  With Steve Smith still questionable for Week 6, Aiken could be in line again for No. 1 targets against a 49ers defense that has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Marquess Wilson, CHI – Wilson finds himself as the Bears No. 1 receiver with Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal still nursing injuries.  Wilson has turned in back-to-back solid performances for the Bears, catching 12 passes on 17 targets for 165 yards and a score during that span.  With both Jeffery and Royal questionable for Week 6 against the Lions, Wilson could once again be in line for a good fantasy day seeing as Detroit has allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Jamison Crowder, WSH – Crowder has seemingly flown under the radar in fantasy leagues to this point in the year, but after his third straight productive outing on Sunday, owners will likely finally begin to take notice. Since being featured in the offense during Week 3, Crowder has caught 21 of 26 targets for 197 yards.  In PPR leagues Crowder’s average of seven catches on nine targets is certainly appealing and as long as DeSean Jackson is sidelined Crowder is worth adding in most formats.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Tight Ends

Gary Barnidge, CLE – You can only beat this drum for so long but after Barnidge being on this list over the past few weeks, this will likely be your last chance to add the Browns tight end who has caught 20 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns over the past three weeks.  Barnidge finds himself as Josh McCown’s top target and should continue to see a heavy workload this season which makes him a valuable fantasy asset given how shallow the tight end position is.
