Oswaldo Arcia was dealt from the Twins to the Rays for a player to be named later or cash. Yikes. From potential 25 homer all the way to being dealt for the faceless PTNBL. The Rays are dealing with injuries in the outfield to Brandon Guyer, Steven Souza and Mikie Mahtook, and Desmond Jennings is always seemingly hurt. This deal could, and the ill health of Rays’ options, opens up a ton of work for Arcia which makes him an immediate add if he’s floating out there in AL-only leagues. Barely 25 years old, Arcia has 40 homers in 884 at-bats. He’s only hit .240 with a monstrous 31.5 percent K-rate, but when he runs into it the ball goes a long way.

Socrates Brito has been placed on the DL with a broken right toe. So much for that. Brito will be replaced on the roster by the guy who was just sent down – Brandon Drury. Talk about versatility, Drury has appeared in 38 games in the outfield, 14 at third base and five at second base. He’s also hit very well against righties with a .287 average, .333 OBP and .485 SLG. He needs to be platooned which means he’s merely a DFS play or an NL-only option, but it’s good to see him back up after being demoted.

I love Sharks. Oh, and I love Blake Lively too. I mean, seriously, what does Ryan Reynolds have on me? That’s right, he has Blake.

Carlos Gomez is washed up. That’s the prevailing wisdom. I don’t think he is. Over the last 10 games he’s hit .351 with a .367 wOBA. He’s also hit a homer and stolen two bases. Hey, it’s something.

Byung Ho Park was all the rage this spring. In his Player Profile I wrote the following about him. In a 12-team mixed league I wrote “Nothing other than a reserve round selection for me. Even if he were to better Kang’s effort from last season and go, let’s say, .280-20-75, is that any different than Mitch Moreland or Mike Napoli types? Answer – no.” I further went on to say this about AL-only leagues. “The only place I would feel comfortable in drafting Park… Sue me. It’s hard enough to predict how rookies will do. When those “rookies” come from foreign countries… that’s just not a party I want to crash.” As you can tell, I didn’t recommend him at all. He then went out and stunk up the joint in Spring Training and people still wanted to draft him. He’s hit 12 long balls putting him on pace to better 25 which is what most expected. However, he’s also hit a sickly .200 with a massive total of 73 strikeouts in 205 at-bats. Frankly, he’s been brutal. Now there is word that he might be sent to the minors. “We’re going to have to have some decisions made here eventually once Miguel Sano comes back, whether [sending Park or another player to the minors] would be the right or wrong thing, depending on how this next week goes,” manager Paul Molitor said. “We’re going to have to consider different things. Can’t say I didn’t warn ya.

I had no idea sharks could live in the snow. Long live the SyFy Channel.

Nomar Mazara has stopped hitting. Over his last 10 games he’s produced five hits leading to a .119 average. Small sample size? OK, fair. What about his last 24 games? Mazara is batting .229 in that time with a .276 OBP and .344 SLG. The significant slump has dropped his batting average down to .288. I told you he wasn’t a .320 hitter. I told you he wasn’t a .300 hitter. I told you he was a .265-.275 guy. We shall see, but it certainly looks like…

Jackie Bradley Jr. has come back down to earth. Adam Duvall is crushing the ball. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so about Giancarlo Stanton this season. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO.

Paulo Orlando has kept hitting just when it looked like he was slowing. Over his last 10 games he’s hit .421. It’s thin, no homers and three runs scored, but that .438 wOBA of his impresses. The guy is batting .354 over 47 games. That’s impressive, though it’s been built on an obnoxious .458 BABIP that is insane. He’s also walked four times leading to a pathetic 0.11 BB/K rate. No power either, just one homer, but the five steals are a nice sweetener are they not?

David Ortiz is batting .340. He’s a 40 year old .286 career hitter, who has failed to hit .275 the past two years. Just stupid.

Some other all-time shark favorites: Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, Sharktopus, 2-Headed Shark Attack and of course Sharknado.

Joe Panik has scored 15 runs with 12 RBI his last 13 games. He’s even batting .304 over those two weeks. Hopefully you didn’t give up on the young, professional hitter.

Buster Posey is ripping it up yet again. Over his last 13 games he’s hitting .353 with a .421 OBP. It was just a matter of time. I would expect a big second half from the backstop who is only hitting .277 with eight homers thus far.

Marcus Semien went 15/11 last year at shortstop and no one seemed to care much. I get that he was a .257 hitter with a mere .310 OBP, but do you know how many shortstops went 15/11 with 65 runs scored last season? The answer is two – Semien and Marcus Semien (Carlos Correa scored 52 runs). By the way, Semien is batting only .236 this season but he has 13 homers and 28 runs scored with five steals. That puts him on pace for 28 homers, 62 runs scored and 11 steals.
