Deal Corey Seager for Anthony Rendon in a redraft league? I also have Xander Bogaerts and Ketel Marte.
@Baseball_Damon

Flash back five weeks. If you proposed this move, giving up Seager for Rendon, you would have been laughed out of the building. Folks would have put the “I’m With Stupid” sign on your back. Flash forward five weeks and it is a legitimate question, especially when you have Xander to turn to. Which begs an obvious question, why have both Seager/Bogaerts to begin with, and if you had both, why would you then also add Marte?

Regardless, it’s where we are at now. I’m a big Rendon fan, but I still think that Seager should bring more. Rendon has struggled, and he didn’t exactly look sharp last season. I would suggest buying on Rendon everywhere, but not at the cost of the top shortstop prospect in baseball.

As for Seager, can’t say I didn’t warn you. Also, it’s not like a rookie shortstop hitting .258 with 15 homers and 75 RBI would a bad season, is it? That’s where we’re at with Seager and his pace for this season and he’s yet to find his groove. It’s just that expectations were way, way too high. Given the youngster some time to find his groove. After all, through 49 big league games, he’s hitting .299 with a .374 OBP and .487 SLG, and those are elite numbers at shortstop.

I know Matt Harvey coming around slowly but was offered Brandon Crawford and Yasmany Tomas for my Harvey? Seems like a good deal, yah? Nah?
@bseblplyr12

Harvey didn’t look good in spring. He’s also been spotty this far in the regular season. His 6.67 K/9 mark stinks, he’s added a batter to his walk rate per nine from last season (2.86) and those ratios stink (4.76 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). Still, there is one elite talent in this group, and it’s easily Harvey. Second, do you really think batters will continue to square him up for a 25.8 percent line drive rate or blister him for a .352 BABIP? I certainly don’t think so (career 20.0 and .280). Third, note that even with his struggles that he has a 1.44 GB/FB ratio, better than his 1.32 career mark, and his 0.64 HR/FB ratio is one hundredth off his career mark.

I previously discussed Crawford HERE, and Tomas simply put, isn’t likely to keep up his early season work which I discussed in this Big 3 Video.

You want Harvey.

Sell high on Wil Myers in a keeper league or has he figured out how to hit in SD? I got offered Aaron Sanchez. Try for more?

@TblueJsker

I’m a fan of Wil Myers. Have been since the offseason. In fact, way back in January, in the 2016 Fantasy Alarm Draft Guide, I wrote a Player Profile telling everyone not to sleep on Myers. Here’s a quote from that piece “A Mark Canha season, with health, would appear to be the low end of expectations in 2016 with the upside to pull off a Shin-Soo Choo type effort.” He’s looking a lot like Choo right now hitting .303 with five homers, 12 RBI/Runs and a .839 OPS. His pedigree suggests that he’s a hitter you can count on. His start suggests the same. There is the standard caveat that he’s yet to stay healthy for a full big league season, and that he’s not going to continue to post a .373 BABIP, but I still think a .276-22-82 season, the numbers Choo posted last season, are doable.

I would sell high on Myers, sure, but this isn’t selling high. You could argue this is a fair deal, and that it might all depend on what your team needs. Note that Sanchez will be moved to the bullpen later in the year. That’s a big concern, or should be, for Sanchez in 2016. If you’re looking 2016 I want Myers. If we’re looking to the future it’s fair to offer the deal, for both sides, but you aren’t “selling high” on Myers.

Would you trade Addison Russell for Dee Gordon in a points league? I have Joe Panik too.
@OBsSteaks

I gave my thoughts on Gordon and the whole PED mess in this Daily Trends piece. I want no part of Gordon. Certainly not going to trade for a guy and have to wait half the season to get him back. (1) You have Panik to slot in there which is a great thing. Through .817 big league plate appearances he’s hit .306 with a .362 OBP and .791 OPS. Nothing wrong with starting him. (2) Russell is off to a slow start in some respects, but he’s an elite talent. Just 22 years old, Russell has 20 homer power is basically played every day. Two exciting things to point to as well. Last year his walk rate was 8.0 percent. This year the mark is 14.8 percent. That’s fantastic and has led Russell to a .346 OBP which happens to be higher than Eugenio Suarez (.341), Starlin Castro (.333) and Troy Tulowitzki (.308). Second, Russell has cut his strikeout rate from 28.5 percent last season down to 17.3 percent this year. Much better pitch recognition is he offering. (3) Neither Russell or Panik will steal bases to replace who Gordon was expected to be, so you will need to find your steals somewhere else.

I wouldn’t do this deal. Keep Russell. We have no idea what is up with Gordon.

I’m getting tired of Addison Russel. Ben Zobrist and Kolten Wong are sitting on waivers. Should I make a move for either?
@kahring88

I just broke down Russell, but let’s compare him to the others here.

Wong has been a disaster and he’s losing playing time. Can’t suggest him over Russell. Can’t.

Zobrist shouldn’t be on waivers. The fact he is means that many in your league are shortsighted or super thin. Zobrist is the most established player on the list, and the most likely to be a solid contributor all season long.

You should add Zobrist, but I would really try to hold on to Russell as well.

Wilson Ramos or Yasmani Grandal? 14tm H2H. Only for this year.
@KFLore24

Grandal is simply a better hitter. He has had a very hard time staying healthy, will give you that, and it’s certainly possible that Ramos will post a higher batting average than Grandal who has a career mark of .242. However, Grandal also owns a .354 OBP for his career, a mark that dwarfs the .301 mark of Ramos. In terms of homers might be even there, maybe, but I always speak of the miniscule fly ball rate of Ramos (27.5 fly ball rate for his career) and how that concerns me. I want Grandal, close, but still clear cut.
