SCRIPT - Weekly Ranking based on metrics and Opponent

ELITE OPTIONS

Rodgers has a 135.4 QB Rating with 10 scores in three games. Doesn’t even matter if he has all his weapons to throw to, he still shreds defenses without mercy.

Palmer has been extremely effective despite not running a high volume of plays. He’s thrown for nine scores and 268 passing yards a contest.

Ryan and the Falcons are top-5 in plays run and passing yards. The Texans allow the 5th most points to quarterbacks this season.

Luck has been a turnover machine with seven interceptions and one fumble. Jacksonville has allowed 283 passing yards a game and is a bottom quarter defense according to most of the metrics.

Newton came through last week against the Saints, and he should have success yet again against the Bucs. DVOA shows the Bucs to be the second worst defense at the moment.

SOLID PLAYS

Taylor faces a Giants club that has struggled against passers as they are allowing the 12th most points a week to signal callers. The Giants also allow 336 passing yards a week, the worst in football.

Eli runs an offense that is top-3 in the NFL in plays run. Rueben Randle stepped up last week and this week we expect Victor Cruz will return to action to give Manning another weapon.

Tannehill has thrown a pass on 70 percent of the Dolphins plays as the coaching staff has been very reluctant to run the football, especially with Lamar Miller not at 100 percent health because of his wonky ankle.

Flacco is a solid play as you can tell that the Ravens run a ton of plays. The Steelers have also picked off only one pass and allowed opponent to complete a crazy amount of passes at 72 percent.

RISKY PLAYS

Bradford and the Eagles are running tons of plays. Tons of pass plays too (top-10).  Of course, there’s been little success with that. The ‘Skins haven’t picked a pass off yet and have only four sacks through three games.

Cousins is backing a mediocre offense that would rather run the football. The Eagles are ranked 8th in pass coverage though they rarely have been pressuring the QB (25th). They have picked off five passes though and Cousins has 21 career touchdown passes and 23 interceptions.

Foles is backing an offense that is only 23rd in pace. They are also 32 in total plays run. The offense just doesn’t move the ball well this point, and with Todd Gurley getting close to full health, perhaps the Rams will the ball more effectively.

Stafford is beat up. The Lions cannot run the football. The Seahawks are top-10 in DVOA, points allowed to the position, PFF defense and PFF pass rush. The game is also in Seattle.

QUARTERBACKS TO AVOID

Vick is a turnover machine who also has issues completing passes. The Ravens haven’t looked great against the pass allowing the third most points to signal callers this season, but they also are ranked 10th according to Pro Football Focus in overall team defense, and Vick is a shell of his former self.

Mallett runs an offense that is running more plays per minute than any in football. Part of the reason for that is that they are throwing so many passes, and failing to complete many, that the clock is often stopped allowing them to throw so many passes.

Bridgewater plays the Broncos, and as you can tell from above they unit is basically top-5 in ¾ of the measures we have listed here, and it’s not like Bridgewater has impressed many this season.
