Mookie Betts is batting .487 with two homers, two doubles and seven doubles in 39 at-bats this spring. His SLG is nearly .950. Seriously. So much for there being any debate as to whether or not he would be starting in the outfield for the Red Sox.

Domonic Brown might not be read for Opening Day due to his Achilles issue. Does it matter? Seriously? The guy hit .235 with 10 homers last season. He hit 18 homers in 56 games in May and June of 2013. The rest of his career he's hit 31 homers in 374 games. He stinks.

It looks like Johnny Giavotella will open the season as the Angels starter at second base as the club has decided that Josh Rutledge just isn't capable of getting it done. A second round selection in 2008, Johnny was never able to convince the Royals that he was worth a starting spot but it appears that things might go differently in his first campaign with the Angels. A .238 hitter with a mere .612 OPS over 437 big league at-bats, Giavotella has long hit well in the minors with a career .305 batting average over 748 games. He's also got a bit of speed as well (he stole 20 bases in 114 games at Triple-A last season). AL-only option is he.

Michael Morse has a nice bat, but he has a hard time staying healthy. Matthew Beck breaks down the Marlin in his Deep Sleeper column.

Joc Pederson will likely be the daily starter in center field for the Dodgers this season. Our very own Jeff Mans profiles Pederson and many others in his MLB Prospect Report Series.

It looks like Jace Peterson will open the season as the Braves starter at second base. That article notes though that Peterson will likely sit against at least "certain" lefties while Phil Gosselin gets some work. Who is Jace P.? He's one fast hombre. Peterson his .306 with 12 steals last season at Triple-A in 68 games, and that's a low total for the infielder. In 73 games at Low-A in 2011 he stole 39 bags. In 117 games at Double-A in 2012 he stole 51. In 113 games at High-A in 2013 he had 42 thefts. He's a strong target in NL-only leagues but I'm still reluctant to spend a selection on him in mixed leagues.

Gregory Polanco is off to a painfully slow start this spring. Over his first 37 at-bats he had only one extra base hits. He changed things up Friday with a double and home run. Don't panic over 40 at-bats in Spring Training. It's a very small sample size. When a guy has the talent of Polanco, and appears likely to hit second in front of Andrew McCutchen, you certainly shouldn't be overly concerned

Josh Reddick (oblique) is likely to miss the start of the season for the Athletics. He's improving, but there simply isn't enough time for him to get ready for Opening Day. The club expects him to be ready about a week or so in, so it's not a long-term concern. A 32 homers, 85 RBI, 85 run scored option in 2012, Reddick has failed to last 115 games the past two seasons and if you combine those two efforts together you end up with 24 homers and 110 RBIs. A decent risk in AL-only, but not worth drafting in mixed leagues.
