Emilio and Aaron have new homes while James waits for his. Plus, Dan doesn't like his current zip code so he's looking to change things up and move back west.

Emilio Bonifacio signed a 1-year deal for $4 million to join the White Sox (the deal reportedly has a club option for 2016). The Sox outfield is full with Melky Cabrera, Adam Eaton, Avisail Garcia and Dayan Viciedo, so it appears that Emilio will be handed the reigns to run with at second base. Over the last four seasons Emilio has stolen at least 26 bags each year and he could easily clear 30 with full-time work. He's only a .262 career hitter and he's failed to reach even that level the last three seasons. He also doesn't do a very good job getting on base, just .300 the last two years has been his OBP, and that's not gonna help anything. You know what he is at this point, and it's just a guy with speed.

Miguel Cabrera no longer qualifies at third base, and while that's a minor issue for his 2015 fantasy outlook a potentially bigger concern has gone pretty much ignored in the fantasy community. Cabrera had ankle and foot surgery in October and it is NOT certain he will be ready for opening day. Here is what manager Brad Ausmus said a few weeks back. "...we've got to wait until January to find out where Miggy is at. If the report at that point is that it could be close in terms of time, then we might have to. But right now, we'll just wait and see what happens with Miggy." At this point he's as risky a selection early in a draft as he has been since his rookie season. Keep a close eye on reports before you blindly drop a top-5 selection on him.

Aaron Harang is going to join the Phillies on a 1-year, $5 million deal to help round out their rotation which is currently made up of Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, David Buchanan, Jerome Williams and maybe Jesse Biddle. With Hamels potentially being dealt, Lee coming back from injury, and Biddle yet to establish himself, the Harang signing makes a lot of sense. He threw 204.1 solid innings the last year for the Braves, but don't get carried away. That was his first effort over 180-innings since 2008. His 7.09 K/9 rate was just blah, ditto his 3.13 WHIP, ditto his 1.04 GB/FB ratio, ditto his .318 BABIP etc. The fact is that he's a backend innings eater, not a fantasy target in any setup (even NL-only where he's just a guy).

In case you're already missing that holiday feeling... did you know that KFC has a place in Japanese Christmas tradition?

James Shields is still a free agent. Why? He's apparently going to get more than $100 million from someone, as he should with the level of contracts given out this offseason. He's gone over 200-innings in 8-straight seasons. Who else has done that? Justin Verlander and Mark Buehrle. It's a small group.

Bigfoot needs to bathe too...

Dan Haren is training, hoping to pitch in 2015. He continues to hold the party line which is that he will only play in the coming season if the Marlins trade him back to a west coast team (the Marlins basically picked him up for free from the Dodgers earlier this offseason). The 34 year old wants to be near his family, and who can blame him for that? He's still an effective hurler who won 13 games with a 1.18 WHIP last season over 186 innings pitched.

Finally... the Draft Guide is blowing up right now - and it's why my postings have been so sporadic for the last couple of weeks. For those of you that haven't heard... we will have a magazine this year. That's right, you can head down to the bookstore and pick up a copy. We'll also be offering our online version which will be updated daily, all the way up to Opening Day (we will be updated depth charts, rankings and adding articles as we close in on first pitch). Exciting times at FantasyAlarm indeed.
