The Royals defeated the Giants 10-0 in Game 6 of the 2014 World Series to push the series to the brink, the thing of childhood dreams, Game 7 of the World Series. Will there be a goat? Who will be the hero? Who will etch their name in the history of the game? Before we find out, let's review what happened in Game 6.

@ESPNStatsInfo

The Giants are 0-4 all-time in World Series winner-take-all games

The Royals have won 14 of their past 17 postseason games dating back to Game 5 of the 1985 World Series.

Tim Hudson is 0-5 with a 5.51 ERA in his last nine starts (combining regular season and postseason).

Jeremy Guthrie is 4-0 with a 1.19 ERA in his last five starts, dating back to the end of the regular season.

@MLB_PR

Yordano Ventura is 7th rookie P in #WorldSeries history to win an elimination game, 1st since John Lackey for 2002 Angels.

The #Royals seven 2nd inning runs also most ANY team has scored in a #WorldSeries inning since #SFGiants scored 7 in 8th in 2010 Game 2.

@MLBStatoftheDay

Hunter Strickland’s six home runs allowed are most ever by a reliever in #postseason history.

Every batter in the @Royals starting lineup recorded at least one hit before the end of the 3rd inning.

Mike Moustakas @Mooose_8 set a new @Royals #postseason record with his 5th home run.

@Royals are attempting to become the 20th team to come back from down 3-2 in the Fall Classic under the current 7-game format.

@Jaysonst

Yusmeiro Petit had faced 42 hitters in this postseason & allowed 4 hits. Then marched into this game & gave up hits to 1st 3 men he faced #ofcourse

The only other Game 6 starter ever to get as few outs as Jake Peavy & give up as many runs & hits: Buck O'Brien of the 1912 Red Sox

@RichardJustice
Bud Selig's competitive balance legacy: If Royals win Game 7, they'll be 10th different franchise to win a World Series since 2001.

At 39 years, 107 days, Tim Hudson will be oldest Game 7 starter ever. Roger Clemens was 39 years, 92 days when he started Game 7 in 2001.

1975 Reds were last team to drop Game 6 on the road and then win Game 7. (1972 Athletics also did it).

This is the 37th time the best-of-seven World Series has done the distance. Home teams have won 18 times. Visiting teams have won 18 times.

However, home teams have won 9 straight Game 7. Last visiting team to win Game 7 was 1979 Pirates in Baltimore, Jack.

@Royals

#Royals win 10-0! Spring Training, 162 regular season games, 14 postseason games and…we’re going to GAME 7. #TakeTheCrown
