Thursday the 11th of September. That's the day. This is the article. It will talk about batters, pitchers, vikings and thieves. Interested to see how it all plays out? So am I.

* NOTE: Players are listed in alphabetical order for the sake of making them easily sortable/findable. The matchups are also generated based on Batter vs. Pitcher data. Just because a player is not listed does not mean that he is a bad or good play. The players listed below are mentioned merely because of the BVP data for the matchup.

DISH DIAMONDS – The Best Hitting Matchups of the Day

Jay Bruce kills it. He's gone 11-for-22 against Lance Lynn with two homers and eight RBIs. Brandon Phillips is batting .308 with five RBIs over 26 at-bats.

Do what you will with this information. Marlon Byrd is 5-for-7 with four RBIs an a steal against Francisco Liriano

Matt Holliday has a .313 average and six RBIs in 32 at-bats against Johnny Cueto. That's nothing compared to Jon Jay who annihilates Cueto to the tune of a .522 average over 23 at-bats. He's also driven in seven runs while blasting three long balls. Crazy good.

My people. My homeland

Paul Konerko has gone 13-for-27 with two homers and six RBIs against Scott Kazmir. That's good for a .481 batting average. He likely won't play though cause of a hand injury. Teammate Alexei Ramirez has hit .316 with a homer in 19 at-bats.

Miguel Montero has hit .300 with a homer in 20 at-bats against Jake Peavy.

DISH DISASTERS – Worst Hitting Matchups of the Day

Gregor Blanco is hitting .400 in September for the Giants but he is 0-for-8 against Randall Delgado. Buster Posey is 1-for-8.

Coco Crisp is 1-for-11 against Chris Sale. Josh Reddick and Johnny Gomes are both 2-for-11.

Jacoby Ellsbury is at .188 with no walks in 16 plate appearances against Alex Cobb. Ichiro Suzuki is batting .176 in his 17 at-bats.

I mean, when you have the munchies...

Jhonny Peralta has three hits in 14 at-bats against Johnny Cueto

Grady Sizemore has a mere three hits against Francisco Liriano. He's batting .125 with 10 strikeouts in 24 at-bats.

MOUND MAVENS – Starting Pitchers to Target

Bartolo Colon has a 3.50 ERA and 1.13 WHIP at home. He's also allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last five outings. The last time he faced the Nats was on August 13th and he pitched seven innings of two runs ball (1 ER) to run his career marks against the Nationals to 2.13 and 1.08 in the ERA and WHIP columns over five outings.

Mike Fiers is 5-2 with a 2.03 ERA and 0.82 WHIP. He's tossed 6-straight quality starts since he was recalled from the minors posting a 1.94 ERA with 46 strikeouts and just seven walks in 41.2 innings. He takes on the Marlins at home.

Francisco Liriano has allowed two runs over his last three outings. He's also allowed two or fewer runs in eight of nine outings. He has a 2.67 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 11 road starts. He faces a Phillies club that has never seen him.

Jake Peavy has allowed 14 earned runs in eight starts with the Giants leading to a 2.36 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. He's got better than a 3:1 K/BB ratio as well. Straight up, he's rolling. He faces the D'backs at home.

Michael Pineda has allowed two or fewer runs in all nine of his starts this season. There it is. He faces a Rays team that he hasn't seen this year. Heck, they haven't seen him since 2011 and that certainly gives him an advantage.

Tanner Roark has a 2.67 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 232.2 career innings. He faces the Mets, far from an elite group, who just lost David Wright. He's sporting a 3.44 ERA and 1.07 WHIP on the road this year with very similar numbers at night (3.08 and 1.08). He doesn't have a win in four outings, but his last 10 outings offer eight outings of fewer than three runs allowed. Has to watch the big fly. Luckily the Mets are just 22nd in the bigs in homers.

MOUND MESSES – Starting Pitchers to Avoid

A.J. Burnett cannot be trusted. He has a 5.51 ERA over his last five starts, and over his last eight outings he's allowed at least five runs four times. He's been solid at home (3.41 ERA, 1.27 WHIP), but how can you trust him given the yo-yo?

Randall Delgado is making a second straight start, just his fourth of the season. Hard to go deep into games given that fact. He's also allowed six runs over his last 8.1 innings. Oh, he also has a 6.03 ERA and 1.49 WHIP on the road this season. He faces the Giants.

This is just, well, hilarious. Put some clothes on dude.

Nathan Eovaldi has a 4.91 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in four career starts against the Brewers including allowing 10 hits and six runs over four innings in the last matchup. He's also gone 0-4 in those matchups. He's also gone 0-4 in his last five starts and has one win in 10 outings. He pitches on the road.

Scott Kazmir has had a terrific season. He's also imploded of late. Over his last two starts he's walked nine batters in just 7.2 innings. Over his last three outings he's thrown a mere 10.2 innings. In that time he's allowed 15 hits, toss in those walks, and that WHIP is 2.25. Oh, and his ERA is 13.50. Good luck with that against the White Sox on the road.
