Bonjour from France!  I am writing this article just a stone’s throw from the Arc de triomphe in the heart of Paris.  My faithful readers are so important that I made the time to sit down and do a DFS PGA Playbook for the Dean & Deluca Invitational.  This will not be one of my longer pieces as I would like to enjoy the time away with my family.  Here’s the long and the short of it …

Fun fact, the Colonial is the longest running non-major event held at the same site, since 1946.  We’ve got a field of only 122 invitees which means in general you can take more risks in your lineups.  There are only 100 players who have a legitimate chance of winning this weekend and the Top 70 plus ties will make the cut.  If you remember 15 years ago, this is the tournament that invited the first woman to participate in a PGA Tour event, Annika Sorenstam.

Colonial Golf & Country Club is a short Par 70 measuring out 7,204 yards.  It is a real test with very tight fairways and small bentgrass greens.  The short hitters are in play on this course and you’ll notice that throughout my playbook.  We’re looking for accurate fairway drivers, good ball strikers with the ability to get the ball in tight to the pin (better known as proximity), and always a solid putting stroke.  This is why Jordan Spieth is right back up at the top of my playbook despite his collapse on Sunday at the Byron Nelson.  He is built for this course, just look at his history here.

DraftKings is now offering DFS games for European Tour events.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be putting up a playbook for those games in the near future.  Personally, I don’t know enough about the Euro tour to put up quality information for the Fantasy Alarm readers.  Once I feel confident and comfortable with the game, I’ll look into posting a playbook for those games.

Finally, we could not have an article without our spiritual guide, Paige!  She like a lot of us were disappointed in what happened on Sunday at the Byron Nelson but ready to get back in the swing of things at the Colonial.  This is one of the better events on the PGA Tour schedule.

GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK!  Au Revoir!
