I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. THE ELITE RUNNING BACKS ARE BACK! You could make a case for anywhere from two to five guys being elite. That’s how good the running back position has been this year. Each guy on this list has performed at an elite level this season and it is why they are once again on this list. Guys like David Johnson and Le'Veon Bell have such a profound impact in both dimensions of the offense, that they are honestly in a tier of their own. Especially in DFS, I certainly don’t blame you if you always put one of these guys in your lineup.

Here are the top 5 running backs for Week 14 of the NFL season.

David Johnson @ MIA

Johnson has 100 or more total yards in every game this season and he gets to face off against a Miami defense that has allowed 4.7 YPC this season. While the Arizona offense hasn’t been as dynamic as many thought, Johnson continues to be a focal point on every single drive. Elite RB1 in Week 14.

Le'Veon Bell @ BUF

Buffalo has allowed 15 rushing touchdowns this season and given Bell’s pedigree in the offense, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he tacked onto that total this weekend. Despite missing the first three games, Bell has the second most receptions among running backs and ranks in the top 10 in rushing yards. He’s an elite RB1.

Melvin Gordon @ CAR

Without Luke Kuechly, this run defense is nowhere near what it is when he is on the field. There is a chance Kuechly returns, but even so, Gordon’s workload keeps him in the RB1 echelon. He ranks inside the top 10 in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns not to mention top 10 among running backs in receptions, receiving yards and targets.

Ezekiel Elliott @ NYG

Elliott has 200 more rushing yards than DeMarco Murray, who ranks second in the National Football League. Zeke has a touchdown in all but four games this year, as well as recording at least 83 rushing yards in every game since Week 1. He’s a surefire RB1 this week.

DeMarco Murray vs. DEN

At face value, facing Denver isn’t appealing. However, when you notice that Denver allows 4.2 YPC and Murray’s consistently high workload, playing Murray isn’t as scary. Denver allows the fourth-most yards per game to opposing backfields, making Murray an RB1 yet again in Week 14.
