For the last top 5 of the week, I bring you the defense and special teams units. Predicting special teams touchdowns can get tricky, but picking the right defense can be as simple as targeting a struggling quarterback or lackluster offense in its entirety. Oh yeah, a little bit of luck never hurt anything! There isn’t much to say this week about defenses, other than having one of these five units in your lineup should set you up for a successful Week 13.

Here are the top 5 defenses for Week 13 of the NFL season.

Broncos DST @ JAC

Bortles has 16 turnovers on the season and this Denver defense is ferocious to say the least. Denver is already a top option each and every week, but seeing as they get Jacksonville in Week 13, it’s hard not to lock them in at the top spot.

Patriots DST vs. LA

The New England defense will take Jared Goff’s first read away and we will get a glimpse into how well Goff can progress through his reads. New England will likely get out earlier in this one and force Goff to throw more than the Rams would like. Expect at least one turnover from Goff on Sunday.

Ravens DST vs. MIA

Ryan Tannehill has been playing pretty good football of late, but this Ravens defense is going to present some challenges for Tannehill and Co. Baltimore has allowed the fewest points per drive to opposing offenses this season, so unless Jay Ajayi finds holes against a stiff Baltimore run defense, Miami is in trouble.

Seahawks DST vs. CAR

Carolina’s offense line is abysmal and quarterback Cam Newton is getting battered and bruised back there. If things don’t change, Newton will continue to have let go of the ball before he wants to, which plays right into the strengths of the Seattle defense. They are a top defensive unit this week, no doubt about it.

Chargers DST vs. TB

Yes, Tampa Bay has Mike Evans, and yes, San Diego may have some trouble slowing him down. However, the Bucs sport the seventh-highest turnover per drive rate in the league and the Chargers defense isn’t allergic to making plays. They managed to pick off Brock Osweiler three times last week and have forced a turnover in every game this season.
