If you ask me, the tight end position, this week in particular, has a lot of good options in DFS. If you want to pay up for Greg Olsen or Jordan Reed, I’m completely fine with it. If you want to save some money and grab Dennis Pitta or Zach Miller, once again, I completely get it. The top 5 for this week has a nice spread of some high-priced guys and then one or two bargain players. Regardless, I say it every week, the tight end position isn’t one that you want to punt. In seasonal leagues, make sure you have a decent tight end, because that could give you the edge you need.

Here are the top 5 tight ends for Week 4 of the NFL season.

Jordan Reed vs. CLE

Reed has yet to have a real breakout game, but he’s still third among tight ends with 190 receiving yards through three games. The Browns have yet to allow a touchdown to tight ends, but it’s about time that quarterback Kirk Cousins provides Reed with ample opportunities for a breakout. This could be, and has a great chance, to be that exceptional week.

Greg Olsen @ ATL

The Falcons have allowed the second most fantasy points to the position and Olsen leads all tight ends with 259 passing yards. He’s one of the top two options in the passing attack and Atlanta has allowed four touchdowns to tight ends through three games. Do you see why Olsen is in this top 5?

Rob Gronkowski vs. BUF

Gronk played just 14 snaps last week, two of which were pass routes, but the positive news is that he reported no setbacks, indicating that he should receive more snaps in this contest. He should be involved in the passing game more often and Buffalo will have trouble containing him. There is some risk, but come on, it’s Rob Gronkowski.

Dennis Pitta vs. OAK

Pitta’s 18 receptions are tied with Olsen for the league lead and his three receptions of 20-plus yards are tied for second at the position. The Raiders are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to the position thus far, including a whopping 17.5 yards per reception. Fire up Pitta as a TE1 this week.

Delanie Walker @ HOU

Walker is still listed as questionable for this weekend’s contest with the Texans, but he should be able to play. Quarterback Marcus Mariota has his highest QBR when targeting Walker and the latter’s has a high floor for a TE1. In two contests last season, Walker hauled in 15 passes on 21 targets for 121 yards.
