Now, once you have all your skill players locked in the lineup, it’s time to get the defense in there. Baltimore was supposed to go out there and suppress the Cleveland offense, but that sure as hell didn’t happen. Defenses can be tricky to pick, but luckily for you, we give you our top 5 plays so that you can have a quality defense out there. A great performance from a defense can be the decisive factor in cashing or winning, so make sure you give this slot the attention it deserves. Here are this week’s top 5 defenses for Week 3, minus Houston, of course, who already played.
Seattle DST vs. SF
Only five teams are averaging fewer yards per game than San Francisco, while the Seattle defense is allowing the fewest yards per game this season. Do you see why they are the top dog this week? Also, Blaine freaking Gabbert.
Denver DST @ CIN
Andy Dalton is in for a nightmare of a weekend against this Denver defense. The Broncos are allowing only 173 passing yards per game, second fewest in the NFL, while racking up eight sacks in the process. They’ve succumbed just one touchdown pass all season and we saw what they did to Andrew Luck last week.
Carolina DST vs. MIN
This play looks even better now since Minnesota has caught the injury bug. They will be without their regular quarterback, running back and left tackle in this one. Yikes. Sam Bradford is no stranger to turnovers and Carolina is tied for the league lead with four interceptions.
Arizona DST @ BUF
Tyrod Taylor has some big play potential, but Arizona’s defense ranks sixth in pass coverage according to Pro Football Focus. Arizona is also tied with the Carolina Panthers for the league lead with four interceptions. Buffalo also fired their offensive coordinator, so it may take some time for Buffalo to get things going.
Miami DST vs. CLE
No Robert Griffin III. No Josh McCown. No Corey Coleman. Cleveland is seriously lacking weapons and rookie Cody Kessler will be making his first career NFL start. That alone makes the Dolphins useful this weekend.
