Another week means another opportunity to sit in judgment of Jeff Mans!  I have poured over Jeff’s rankings and opinions and, well, let us see how he did.  Oh, and as usual, I will pepper this piece with a few of my own masterpieces and pieces of [use a word for dung] from the past week.

Here is the 2015 Week 10 edition of Right, Wrong or Indifferent:

RIGHT

Brandin Cooks:  Maestro Mans was dead on when he penned:  “This is a difficult week for the WR position because the obvious plays all kind of just jump out off the page. But obviously we want to uncover at least a couple of those guys who are on the fringe that have a real chance for separation this week and Cooks is one of those guys. I like the matchup with Redskins CB Chris Culliver, the way the Saints' offense has been rolling leaves him in a good spot as well. Ownership will be super low on Cooks away from the dome and while he is not a real TD threat, the volume is very robust here.”  Cooks made Jeff look pretty smart, putting up five receptions for 98 yards and two TD (and 11 yards rushing to boot).  The bottom line here is that the Saints will continue to give up a ton of points so Cooks will be active as they play catchup.

Mike Evans:  Mr. Mans was spot on regarding Mike Evans.  Jeff wrote: “No Vincent Jackson again means Evans' targets will be in the teens if not higher this week. Evans will be matched up against Morris Claiborne who ranks 101st out of PFF's 110 CBs. There is a near seven-inch size difference here also which, if I were the Bucs play caller, would be a frequent red zone matchup that I would exploit this week.”  Eight catches for 126 yards is good solid fantasy production so I give Jeff a W here.  That said this is where fantasy and reality diverge.  Evans continues to drop a ton of passes and benefited from some ticky tack calls.  With Austin Seferian-Jenkins and V-Jax still hurting Evans really is the only show in Tampa so his volume production should continue.  Just know that you will be pulling your hair out as he drops key fantasy points for you each week.

Tom Brady:  Jeff is looking good here as he wrote about Mr. Brady:  “If you can afford the salary I strongly recommend Brady for cash games. The Patriots are in the top five in the NFL in points per game (1st), total yards (2nd), red zone TD% (3rd), pass attempts (5th), passing percentage (4th), passing yards (3rd), yards per pass attempt (3rd) and pass blocking according to PFF (3rd). Oh and the Giants offer the worst pass rush in the league and have given up the second-most passing yards per game and third-most fantasy points to QBs.”  Remember that safe production is the key for daily cash games.  Brady did not light the world on fire but 334 and two TD (with a bonus nine yards rushing) is solid production.  Oh, and if you care about real football, you saw a true master stay cool under pressure, complete a 4th and 10 and lead his team to victory despite missing his best receiver.

Jeremy LangfordOk, one for me.  I told all who would listen to start Jeremy Langford.  Boom!  Got that one right!  182 total yards, two TDs and seven receptions to boot is a huge fantasy day by any measure.  The lesson here is not that I am so smart (ok, a little) but rather that it remains critical to actually watch football.  The Bears love to throw to their backs.  Langford proved to anyone with eyes that he can catch out of the backfield in the win over the Chargers last Monday.  Watch football, learn about players and trends, and then make fantasy football moves based on better information.  Class dismissed!

WRONG

Aaron Rodgers:   Well, now for the other side of the coin.  This Mans prediction hardly came to pass:  “Rodgers caught fire in the second half last week and I fully expect that to continue here in Week 10. The Lions are second-worst in DVOA and passing yards per attempt given up and fourth-worst in PFF's pass coverage ratings. This should be a big day for Rodgers and company in Green Bay.  Rodgers was hardly bad fantasy-wise with 333 yards and two TDs.  However, the predicted “big day” did not come to pass.  Bottom line here is that Aaron Rodgers will put up decent fantasy production but is no longer the rock of your season-long team or worthy of the lofty salaries he commands in DFS.

DeAngelo Williams:  I think Jeff got twisted around a bit when he wrote, “I cannot believe his price is still this low. DeAngelo is averaging 23 carries, 125 yards rushing and 1.67 TDs in his three starts this season. He is outproducing Le'Veon Bell by quite a bit and is now facing the worst run defense in the league in the Browns. The Browns are seventh-worst DVOA, fourth-worst in both overall yards per game and yards per play, they are second-worst run defense in PFF's ratings, worst in the NFL in rushing yards per game surrendered, fourth-worst in rushing yards per attempt and have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to RBs.”  69 total yards, no TD and only one catch is hardly a big day.  With so many weapons in Pittsburgh, Williams is a game flow boom or bust pick in the coming weeks.

Darren McFadden:   Jeff booted this grounder when he said:  “DMC's price on DK is an insult to mankind. I probably don't play him at all on FD this week but in a full point PPR format I really like him against the Bucs at this price.”  I cannot really kill Jeff or DMC here for many reasons including I agreed with him completely.  However, almost all the Cowboys laid an egg when they just should have played better.  DMC has been great and one bad game happens to everyone.  In TB, that happened.  DMC managed just 58 yards, three catches and no TD.  Ugh.  However, with Tony Romo back this Sunday, DMC will no longer face eight- and nine-men fronts.  A big day is in the offing in Miami.

Dez Bryant:  In all fairness, I have to look in the mirror and scold myself at least once.  I really thought Dez would put the Cowboys on his shoulders this week and win one for Tony Romo.  Well, that did not happen.  Dez had two key drops and was not the aggressive, “how did he do that?” Dez on the final play (yes, he was interfered with, but I digress).  Five receptions for 45 yards simply is not getting it done.  Apologies to my Twitter followers and others I advised to start Dez.  That said, I think he and Romo will click right away and at least give Cowboys fans hope in that sorry NFC East.

INDIFFERENT

Landry Jones:  Jeff noted: Yeah that is right I am saying it. Ben Roethlisberger is not going to play this week and thus Jones is in a good spot against the Browns. The Browns have the sixth-worst pass rush (PFF) and have given up the seventh-most fantasy points to QB's this year. 15 points seems like a chip shot for Landry Jones this week.”  I say indifferent because how could Jeff have predicted Jones would get stepped on by his own player?  That said, with Ben in uniform, the risk Tomlin would go to him should have been given more credence by Jeff, me and others.

Blake Bortles:   Jeff was pretty high on Bortles:  “Bortles is really clicking as of late and I really love his price across the board this week. The Ravens rank fourth in passing yards given up, fourth in passing yards per attempt and have given up the second-most fantasy points to QBs so far this season.”  188 yards is not getting it done but two passing TD and 25 yards rushing made this a “yeah, whatever.”

Mark Ingram:  About Mark Ingram, Jeff penned as follows:  “One of these days Ingram is going to have a massive TD game. The Redskins defense is fifth-worst in PFF's against the run ratings, fourth in rushing yards per game surrendered, and third in rushing yards per attempt. Nice discount here from the high-priced studs.”    98 total yards and three receptions is not terrible so I cannot give Jeff a "Wrong" here but massive TD day this was not.  All that said, Ingram is a must start every week in your season-long leagues.

Ok, let’s use what we learned and win in Week 11.  Good luck!
