Hitters

Play of the Day: Mookie Betts-- While all the top-priced players are in play tonight, it may be hard to afford them if paying up for pitching. Betts is the 15th-priced OF option on Y!, and coming off of his third multi-hit game over his last four. He faces Kevin Gausman tonight, and Betts is 12-for-26 with three home runs lifetime off of him.

Top Play: Dee Gordon-- Miami was happy to play at home for the first time in two weeks last night, and scored 13 runs. While the Miami OF options are in play, so is Dee Gordon. After ending his hit streak last Friday, Gordon has gone 8-for-14. He’s batting .368 over his last 10 games to go along with six stolen bases. His stolen base last night gives him 55 for the season.

Value Play: Chris Taylor-- If looking to save some salary at second base, Taylor provides a nice discount from the top-priced second base options tonight. Taylor led off the game last night with an inside the park home run, his 20th homer of the year. He was 0-for-15 in his previous four games before his two-hit night.

GPP Play: Matt Olson-- Olson went deep for the fourth-straight game last night, and seventh in his last nine. Oakland has another over five run projected total tonight vs. Bell, who has allowed 13 runs over his last 12 innings. Oakland won’t sit him tonight vs. a lefty, but just three of Olson’s home runs this year have come of left handed pitchers.

Pitchers

Play of the Day: Max Scherzer-- Similar to Kershaw last night, Scherzer’s price tag is far above the field of pitching options tonight.  Unlike last night though, the pitching options are extremely deep tonight,  Scherzer had his worst start of the season in his last start vs. the Braves, allowing seven runs, while walking six batters. Expect a bounce back game from an elite pitcher like Scherzer tonight, who has 246 strikeouts for the season, and has struck out 25.2% of Braves over the last two years (246 PAs).

Top Play: Yu Darvish-- While Scherzer is coming off his poor start, Darvish is coming off one of his best starts for the Dodgers.  Darvish went seven scoreless while allowing just three hits. He struck out five without allowing a walk as well. He faced the Phillies with Texas earlier this season, striking out nine over seven innings.

Pivot Play:  Zack Godley-- Pitching is loaded tonight in the price range of Godley, but I believe he continues his recent momentum vs. the Padres tonight. Godley is 3-0, with a 2.33 ERA over his last three starts. He pitched eight scoreless vs. the Rockies in his last start, and has a 16:0 K:BB ratio over his last two starts. Godley is in a nice spot to pick up his first win vs. the Padres this season in his fourth start vs. them.

GPP Play: Mike Clevinger-- Clevinger had his worst start of the season vs. the Angels back on July 25th, and heads into tonight’s matchup as a slight underdog. Clevinger allowed five earned over 4.1 innings in that start, but has been pitching extremely well, like most Cleveland starters in the second half. Clevinger is 4-0 over his last four starts, allowing just one earned over those 22.2 innings.
