Hitters

Play of the Day: Joey Votto – Votto faces Urena from the Marlins tonight, who has allowed two long balls in each of his last two starts, and five over his last 13 innings.  Votto has yet to go deep in the second half, and believe that streak ends tonight as he hit’s his 27th homer of the year.

Top Play: Gerardo Parra – The Rockies have the highest projected run total tonight, and Parra is batting .553 with two homers over his last ten games.  He’s 11-17 with eight runs over his last four games.

Value Play: Stephen Drew – Drew checks in as a minimum price option to help with salary relief tonight.  Godley is coming off his worst start of the season while allowing six runs.  Washington’s offense should be back in full force tonight, making it hard on Godley to rebound from his last start.

Value Play: Hector Sanchez – Sanchez is 4-9 with two homers off of Samardzija, and makes for another nice option for salary relief. Sanchez went deep in both his starts vs the Giants last week.

Pitchers

Play of the Day: Chris Sale – Sale had his start pushed back a day, and faces an Angels team tonight that he is 5-0, with a 1.39 ERA in eight career appearances against.  Sale has at least nine K’s in eight of his last nine starts, and has struck out 36 over his last 21 ? innings, allowing only four runs in that span.

Top Play: Alex Wood – Wood will try to stay perfect tonight on the season in a matchup vs the Braves.  Wood is the largest favorite of the night, as he is 11-0 with a 1.56 ERA on the season.  Wood has allowed only 10 runs over his last 12 starts, while recording at least seven K’s in seven of his last ten starts.

Pivot Play: Aaron Nola –  The Brewers don’t have it any easier tonight as they try to snap their losing streak vs Nola.  Nola is 3-1, with just a 1.78 ERA over his last five starts.  He’s 2-0 lifetime vs the Brewers, which includes seven K’s vs the Brewers last weekend.  The K upside is there as well, as Nola has 51 K’s over his last 35 ? innings.

GPP Play: Michael Fiers – Fiers has a tough matchup vs the surging O’s tonight, but is coming off a career high 11 strikeout game without issuing a walk.  Fiers has allowed one run or less in three of his past five starts.  Cahill and Cobb also make nice gpp plays tonight.
