Stacks for Thursday, June 22

Early Slate:

Arizona @ Colorado

of course is the best game of the early slate to target.  Unfortunately, they may be tough to roster with their price tags.  The team’s starting pitchers today are a combined 11-3, but Vegas still has this as it’s highest projected run total game of the early slate.  Nice $1.6 or $1.7K discount with Mark Reynolds of Paul Goldschmidt today, who both are able to go deep.  Carlos Gonzalez finally had a price jump, but may be able to sneak in a cheaper Tony Wolters at catcher.

Houston

The Astros have a projected run total that sits right in the middle of the 12 teams playing this afternoon.  The face Hanh today, who has yet to lose this month, but took a loss vs Houston back in late April.  That game was the most hits he has allowed this season, but also one of his two starts where he did not issue a walk.  McCann is 4-8 with homer off him, and Springer is 5-10.  Jesse Hahn has not allowed a HR in any of his last 9 games started dating back to April 25, 2017 (this is the longest active streak), but faces an Astros team that have an OBP of .360 on the road this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB; League Avg: .318), and have hit at least one home run in each of their last 8 games (Rangers have the longest active streak with 15).

Can pair the Astros with other power potential teams in the Cardinals, or the Toronto/Texas game.

Top Stack Suggestions:  Brian McCann, George Springer, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa.

Late Slate:

The Dodgers have scored 30 runs over their past three games, and have plenty of power in their lineup as well.

Cleveland @ Baltimore

I don’t think you should try to overthink the evening slate, and stack the Indians with the Dodgers if you can afford it.  If a full game stack player, I like pairing the Indians with the O’s vs Clevenger tonight.

Before having a start cut short from rain, Clevenger allowed 12 runs in three starts after only allowing three runs total over his previous four starts.  The ball should continue to fly out of the park in warmer temps there, but from the O’s side, I really only like them best on FD due to DK raising their price tags.

The Indians face Wade Miley tonight, and check in above Baltimore with the highest projected run total of the evening.  He’s allowed 15 runs over his past three starts, including three long balls.  Edwin is 5-10 with two homers off of him, while players like Lindor, Gomes, Roberson, and Jackson provide for nice value options if wanting some solid pitching tonight.

Cleveland:  Edwin Encarnacion (Santana if you need more salary space), Yan Gomes, Francisco Lindor, Austin Jackson or Daniel Robertson.

Baltimore:  Mark Trumbo, Manny Machado, Jonathan Schoop, Hyun-Soo Kim.

Yankees paired with Cubs

The evening slate is much more hitter friendly than pitcher friendly tonight. If not on the Dodgers or the full game stack above, pairing the Yankees with the Cubs makes for another solid stack tonight.

The Cubs can’t lose another series vs the Padres, and need their bats to come alive vs Jeff Locke, who has struggled to a 1-5 career record with  5.98 era vs the Cubs. Their left handed bats have fared well vs him, with Rizzo at 1--29 with five homers, and Heyward at 11-28 off Locke.  Schwarber is also 2-3 with a homer and cheap price tag, while Baez is 4-8 with a long ball and even cheaper than Kyle.

The Yankees face homer friendly pitcher Chavez tonight, who has allowed at least one homer in 12 consecutive starts now.   In a small sample size, six of the eight Yankees that have faced Chavez have a .333 avg or better vs him.  Gary Sanchez, Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks, Chase Headley, and Matt Holliday are a combined 14-31 with three homers off Chavez.

The challenge for this stack is how to fill in each spot.  Holliday is much cheaper than Rizzo, and on flip side, Heyward and Schwarber are much cheaper than Judge.

Cubs:  Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Ian Happ (DK), Jason Heyward.

Yankees:  Aaron Hicks, Gary Sanchez, Chase Headley, Didi Gregorius
