I’m not a huge fan of this slate tonight since I feel there aren’t many clear cut ways to approach the slate.  Rich Hill is on a 19 inning scoreless streak, but Arizona is coming off a series in which they scored 34 runs off 50 hits!  Happ is another top pitcher going tonight, but he is -5 with a 7.83 ERA over his career vs the Angels.  There is also the Cubs that have a magic number of one, and can clinch the division with a win tonight.  Their top players don’t have a great track record vs Nelson, but the crowd should be electric throughout the game, and expecting to party tonight.  I think the slate is best suited for tournament action tonight, and suggest treading lightly in cash games.  Good luck!

Catcher

Cash Play:  Yasmani Grandal checks in as my top catcher tonight.  Yes, he has struggled lately, but his price is reasonable, and this is more of a bet of the Dodgers than Grandal himself.  The other popular catcher tonight may be Russell MartinThree of his last five hits went for homers.  The problem is that it has taken Martin ten games to reach those five hits.  Outside of Grandal, Martin I feel has the best chance to go deep.

GPP plays:  Both players listed above work great in their team stacks, but if looking for lower owned players, Salvador Perez may fit the roleMengden has been horrible over his last seven starts, allowing players to hit .328 off him.  Willson Contreras is o for his last 12, but will be a nice play in a Cubs stack.  If Montero gets the start, he would make for a great value play as well.

Value Plays: I would consider possibly rolling out Stephen Vogt on DK, but probably only in an A’s stack with Wendle and maybe Davis.  Vogt is 2-6 with a HR off Volquez, and was 5-7 before a disappointing O’fer last night.

First Base

Cash/GPP Plays:  Paul Goldschmidt and Anthony Rizzo are top players, and not opposed to rostering them tonight, but I’m personally looking elsewhere.   Gonzalez is another one that will be popular, but his 0-7 lifetime vs Bradley puts him in gpp Dodger;s stack only for me.  Matt Adams seems to like facing Cueto going 6-16 with a HR off him.  His price is cheap making him a nice target, but Moss will work as a contrarian play.  Edwin Encarnacion went hitless against Tampa after a 2 HR game in the series finale vs Boston this past weekend.  In a great spot tonight to get back on track, and help the Jay’s out of their current funk.

Value Play:  Josh Bell will continue to be on my radar until a price jump.  The Angel’s make for a nice sneaky stack tonight, and that includes CJ Cron who is 2-6 with a HR off Happ.  Mark Teixeira is a nice cheap option, that gives you a probably under 2% owned option.  Pair him with Ellsbury and Didi for a nice sneaky stack.

Second Base

Cash Plays:   Jean Segura is swinging a hot bat with back to back 2 HR games.  It will be an interesting matchup of hot pitcher vs hot hitter.  Segura’s price is best on DK.  Logan Forsythe is 7-19 with a HR off Gallardo, and has hit safely in six of last seven games.

GPP Plays:  Dustin Pedroia is 6-19 with a HR off Tanaka.  His seven game hit streak ended last night, but is still one of the hottest hitters lately.  I like Devon Travis if leading off for the Jay’s tonight.  His double last night extended his hitting streak to 11 games, and can even make the case to play him in cash games tonight.  Howie Kendrick is best used if batting towards the top of the lineup.  I like him in a Dodger’s stack though either way as he is 4-7 off Bradley.

Value Plays:  Don’t think there is another Dee Gordon type value play tonight at second.  Kendrick is fairly cheap, and once lineups come out, a cheap 2B option may pop up.

Third Base

Cash Plays:  Justin Turner will and should be a popular play tonight.  He’s 2-6 with a HR off Bradley, and should have plenty of opportunities to produce based on Vegas’s expectations.  Joey Wendle will be the popular play on Aces tonight, and in play as a punt option on the other sites.  He had another two hits and a walk last night, making it at least one hit in his last seven starts now.

GPP plays:  Manny Machado and Jung-Ho Kang both work as nice gpp options tonight if off of the two above or Bryant.  Machado has at least 1 hit in 15 of last 16 games, and usually makes for a good play when facing a mid-tier lefty like Snell.  Kang has at least two hits in five of his last eight starts including at least one run in six of them.

Value Plays:  Wendle continues to be a great value play in all formats, but if going with an Angel’s stack, make sure to include Jefry MarteHe went 2-5 with a HR in his first matchup vs Happ, and have already mentioned Happ’s struggles vs Anaheim.

Shortstop

Cash Plays:  SS is in a pretty similar situation as last night.  If paying up, Corey Seager would be my top choice.  His 8 game hitting streak came to an end yesterday, but did record a SB and a run.  He has at least two hits in six of last 11 games.  You also have the option to pay up for Jonthan Villar again on DK.  He had another 0-5 night last game, but is 1-3 with a HR off Montgomery.  On FD and DK, Adam Frazier is a near minimum leadoff option again tonight.  He’s nothing flashy, but extended his hit streak to four games yesterday, and provides great salary relief.

GPP Plays:  I’m not all in on the Cubs today, but if stacking them, I like Javier Baez’s pricetag.  He’s 3-6 off Nelson, scored 5 runs over his last three games, and looking for his first long ball in almost a month.  Didi Gregorius is 6-17 off Rodriguez, and is my third player in a mini-Yankees stack.

Value Play:   Frazier and Baez are both in nice spots, and hopefully they both play tonight.

Outfield

Cash/GPP Hybrid Plays:  OF is tough tonight due to no clear cut top plays, and the ones I like all come with risk.  On FD, I think Joc Pederson is close to a must play.  He went 2-5 with 2 HR’s in his first matchup vs Bradley.  Dexter Fowler is my favorite Cub to target for cash games.  He’s 4-16 with 2 HR’s and 5 walks off Nelson.  Fowler failed to go deep for the third time yesterday, but did record two hits.  Corey Dickerson is 5-11 with a HR off Gallardo, and his three hits yesterday makes it at least two hits in six of last seven games, and one of my favorite plays tonight.

The Blue Jays OF looks to be in a nice spot tonight with Michael Saunders and Jose Bautista leading the way.  The biggest problem in the Jays offensive funk lately. Neither of the two listed above have recorded a multi-hit game yet this month.  Today’s matchup though suggests otherwise.

Value plays:  There are plenty of value options available tonight.  Brandon Drury has gone deep in three straight games, and has an awesome price on DK.  If going against Hill, Drury should be in your lineup.  Roman Quinn is still not FD available, but in play elsewhere.  The recent call up has three straight games of at least two hits though his first four starts.
