Catcher

Cash Play:  On FD, Victor Martinez would be the highest priced player I’ll look to target tonight.  He’s 5-10 off Duffy, and Detroit has second highest run total of the night.  On DK, Aces, and even FD, Evan Gattis will be in play with a cheaper price tag.  Houston isn’t expected to score much, but Gattis is 6-11 with a HR off Holland, and homered in two of last three games.  Also, keep an eye on who the Rockies start at catcher tonight, as any of them would make for a nice play.

GPP plays:  A nice pivot off Gattis would be Salvador PerezManaea has trouble pitching on the road, making the Royals a nice contrarian stack option.

Value Plays: A few of the above listed come with a cheap price tag, but can go a little lower for more risk with Kurt SuzukiHe’s 5-11 off Sanchez, and has hit safely in both games in this current series including a homer the other day.

First Base

Cash Plays:  David Ortiz, Paul Goldschmidt, and Miguel Cabrera are all in plus matchups, but you will be paying up to get them.  For cheaper you can look at Jose Abreu, but I’m going with one of the three above or fully punting.  Ortiz is a top play who is 8-18 with 2 HR’s off Gausman, and has went deep in two of his last three games.  Goldschmidt and the Arizona offense has the highest team total tonight, and has been killing it in the series by going 4-6 with 5 runs.  Miggy is 5-10 with a HR off Duffy, but may be the lowest owned of the three.

GPP Plays:  All of the players listed above are in play for me in tourneys, and think it depends on what route you are going tonight.  If you are paying up for pitching, then there are plenty of solid value play options at first tonight.

Value Play:  Josh Bell has a price that just won’t rise.  He had another two hit game while batting in the two hole, and should be able to produce vs Thompson tonight. Justin Bour is 4-11 with a HR off Teheran, and recorded back to back 9 FD point games in this series.  Mark Reynolds is my favorite value play at first tonight if going with a Rockies stack.  Justin Morneau is 5-16 with 2 HR’s off Tomlin, but make sure he is in the lineup if you go with the 1% owned risk.

Second Base

Cash Plays:   Jean Segura is coming off a 2 HR game, and is only 3 hits shy now of the NL hit lead.  Segura is a top play tonight, but the sites are trying their best to talk us out of him with their pricing of Dee Gordon and DJ LeMahieuGordon is on a six game hit streak, and a single, SB, and run will pay off his minimum price salary on FD.  On DK, LeMahieu’s price is cheap enough to give a few looks at.  He’s recorded two hits in three of his last four games.

GPP Plays:  Dustin Pedroia on FD and Rougned Odor on DK make for nice pivots off Segura.  Pedroia is 6-16 with a HR off Gausman, while Odor went 2-5 in his only game vs Musgrove.  Both players are swinging the bat well, and work well in team stacks as well as on their own.

Value Plays:  Gordon is by far your best value play, but feel free to look at others in tournaments if punting second in gpp’s.

Third Base

Cash Plays:   I’m finally paying up for player, and going with Nolan ArenadoHe’s 3-9 with 2 HR’s off De La Rosa, and 5-8 so far in this series.  I’m going to try not to over think this one, but if I do, I can see myself going with Joey Wendle, who has turned in a pretty consistent performance in the leadoff role with at least one hit in his last six starts.

GPP plays: For slightly cheaper than Nolan, you can pivot to either Adrian Beltre or Kyle SeagerBeltre was 3-6 with a homer in his first game vs Musgrove, while Seager is 4-7 off Chacin.  I like Seager a lot in a Seattle stack paired with their OF.  Jake Lamb has a horrible price tag, but feel like he needs to be a part of an Arizona team stack if going that route.

Value Plays:  Wendle would be the only 3B I’ll look at paying down for.

Shortstop

Cash Plays:  On DK, I’m not opposed to paying up for Jonathan VillarHe was 0-10 in his previous three games before going deep last night.  Always nice to have a leadoff hitter that has shown both power and speed.  Short stop though looks to be my salary relief position with a few cheap options available.  For $1,100 cheaper, there is Carlos Correa, who is 6-11 with 2 HR’s off Holland.  On FD, Adam Frazier is a near minimum leadoff option.  He’s nothing flashy, but is on a three game hit streak, and provides great salary relief.  The same could be said about Chris Owings if batting second for Arizona.

GPP Plays:  All of the above work well for gpp’s.  Jose Pereza’s popularity has dwindled lately, but his still makes for a great gpp play due to his speed leading off.

Value Play:   Out of the value plays listed above, I feel it’s a toss-up between Frazier and Owings.  If had to choose, I would lean towards Owings due to Arizona’s run total.

Outfield

Cash/GPP Hybrid Plays:  There are some top priced players that are of course in play, but wanted to provide some other options as well.  If paying up though, the player I’ll roll with is Mookie BettsHe’s 5-14 with 2 HR’s off Gausman, and like him more than Ortiz if paying up for a Red Sox due to his speed ability.  The first two Mariners in the order look to be solid targets tonight vs Chacin.  Nori Aoki is 5-16 with 3 HR’s off him, and has gone deep twice during his five game hit streak.  In gpp’s, feel free to pair him with Seager and Seth Smith for a nice mini stack.

All of the Rockies outfielders are in play, but I’ll look to go the cheapest with David Dahl. He is hitless in his last 12 Ab’s, and hopefully will go low owned.  Also like Parra for cheaper if there over Dahl.

Rajai Davis hopefully is leading off, and is 5-9 off Rodon.  Cleveland is in a scoring funk right now, and Davis can be the spark plug to start the turnaround.

Value plays:  There is going to be at least one Arizona outfielder that will be cheap tonight.  For now, I’m thinking its Yasmani Tomas.  He’s 7-10 with 2 doubles, a homer, and 7 rbi’s so far in this series.  Also makes for great cash game play.  Marcell Ozuna can be paired with Gordon for a mini Marlin’s stack.  Ozuna is 14-33 with 2 HR’s and only 4 K’s lifetime vs Teheran.
