While I usually enjoy my full evening slate on Fridays, I really don’t love the pitchers or the match-ups tonight. There are still some worthwhile options to play, but there’s just not a whole lot jumping off the page to me. I like a couple of cash game plays and there’s a dart or two I may consider, but overall, this is looking like a light DFS day for me. Here’s what I’m looking at today:

Chris Sale, CHW – The Mariners are right around league-average against lefties and their swinging the sticks pretty well, so those numbers aren’t going to sway you. But in looking at the BvP data, save for Nelson Cruz, the current Mariners club struggles against the big lefty. Might not get the run support needed for the win though.
Felix Hernandez, SEA – The White Sox have just a .304 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season with a strikeout rate nearing 21-percent. Over the past week, their wOBA hasn’t gotten any better and their .144 ISO mark is just meh. If the bat of Cruz does what it should, that might be all the support King Felix needs.
Justin Verlander, DET – He continues to look dominant with his eight-straight quality starts and these Angels look rough this past week with just a .300 wOBA and a pathetic .090 ISO. With him opposite Ricky Nolasco, he’s probably going to be my top cash game play.
Steven Wright, BOS – Coming off the DL means there’s heavy risk involved, but I’m willing to give the knuckleballer a look against the Royals here. Kansas City is sitting on just a .311 wOBA with a 20.3-percent strikeout rate over the last seven days, they struggled to put up runs against Miami and they actually rank 28th in the league with a .299 wOBA against righties which also comes with a disappointing .62 slugging percentage and .126 ISO.
Jeff Samardzija, SF – Feel like this might be a trap given the way the Braves are hitting lately, but even with all of that, they still have just a .298 wOBA and .132 ISO against righties. Probably a low-cost GPP just for the fun of rooting for the Shark.
Mike Fiers, HOU – With the Rays still striking out nearly 30-percent of the time over the past week and over 25-percent of the time over the past month, how do you not look at Fiers today? They’re just up there hacking away as evidenced by the high K-rate and a walk rate under six-percent. The .306 wOBA over the last seven days gives you another reason to like Fiers as if the strikeout potential alone wasn’t enough.
David Phelps, MIA – Run support could be questionable given the way the Marlins have been hitting (or not hitting) lately, but you have to give Phelps a look in a low-cost GPP facing the Padres. San Diego still ranks dead last with a .291 wOBA against righties (24.7-percent K-rate) and has just a .293 wOBA over the past week with a monstrous 31.9-percent strikeout rate.
Martin Perez, TEX – Ugh. I hate recommending this guy for fear that he may be the Tribe’s slumpbuster here, but it’s hard not to pick on an offense that has a .245 wOBA over the last week which comes with a .124 ISo and a strikeout rate just above 25-percent.
Jarred Cosart, SD – A revenge game perhaps? Sure. Why the hell not? As I just said above, the Marlins aren’t hitting right now and are sitting on just a .274 wOBA with a .088 ISO over the past week. I don’t love Cosart but again, against an offense like this, why not throw a buck on a single-entry tournament on Fan Duel and load up on some big-ass bats?
