Short slate, pricey pitching! That’s the theme of the day. While there may be just nine games today, we’re inundated with aces as roughly a third of the pitching options are priced over $10,000 on both FanDuel and Draft Kings. Are they all worth it? Of course not. So let’s take a look at who is…

Jose Fernandez, MIA – Run support from the Marlins has been pretty tough to come by, but Fernandez will keep the Cardinals in line enough to not need a whole lot. He continues to be a dominant force and the Cards’ bats have been ice cold over the past seven days. We’re talking a .262 wOAB with a 24.8-percent strikeout rate. Yeah, that cold.
Chris Sale, CHW – The team-mandated suspension is done and Sale is ready to get back on the hill. While the Cubs have hit left-handed pitching well this season, they’ve posted just a .311 wOBA over the past week and have lost three of their last five. Sale hasn’t faced them this season, but he did face most of this crew twice last year and held them to one run over 14 innings (two starts) with 25….yes, 25….strikeouts.
Jacob deGrom, NYM – The Rockies are just atrocious on the road with a .292 wOBA and a 23.6-percent strikeout rate which means easy pickins for deGrom. We should see a ton of ground ball outs as deGrom’s 50.2-percent ground ball rate matches up against a team mashing the ball in the dirt 46.5-percent of the time.
Cole Hamels, TEX – Man, these Royals look bad right now. They’ve posted a .264 wOBA with a 20.4-percent strikeout rate over the past week and their .103 ISO isn’t intimidating anyone. Hamels should have little to no trouble at all with these guys.
Aaron Nola, PHI – The Braves bats may have come to life yesterday, but I have no faith in them consistently producing. They’re still posting just a .286 wOBA against righties this year and that comes with just a .120 ISO and a .660 OPS.
