Chris Sale, CHW – Doesn’t matter if the Tribe’s been hot lately. They still have a .295 wOBA with a 22-percent strikeout rate against lefties this season. His overall numbers over the years have looked meh against Cleveland, but he took them down fairly easily earlier in the year.

Jeff Samardzija, SF – For me, this is the tastiest match-up of the slate and obviously the DFS sites’ algorithms say the same based on Shark’s pricing here. The Padres’ .204 wOBA and 26.2-percent strikeout rate say it all. The offense is worse than anemic.

David Price, BOS – Based on his last two outings, it would appear that Dustin Pedroia did find the answer to the big lefty’s early season struggles. He’s allowed three earned runs in his last 14 innings, has 17 strikeouts in those games and now faces a Rockies team that, while normally they hit lefties well, they suck on the road and have just a .263 wOBA over the last seven days.

Chris Tillman, BAL – He’s probably the most surprising hurler of the season this year and now he gets an Astros team that can’t seem to hit water if they fell out of a boat. Their numbers against righties are barely average this year and over the last week, they’ve posted an embarrassing .258 wOBA with an even more disgusting 26.4-percent strikeout rate.

Edinson Volquez, KC – The Twins have a wOBA against righties this year that has to be rounded up to get to .300 and over the last week, they’ve got just a .255 mark. Add in a 21.2-percent strikeout rate and Volquez should have himself a strong day worthy of his price tag.

Justin Verlander, DET – While no one is declaring that he’s back, you can’t deny the fact that Verlander has pitched beautifully over his last three starts. He’s given up just four earned runs in 22.1 innings and has 27 strikeouts in that span. He’s got the Phillies today with their sub-.290 wOBA versus righties which has remained consistent over the last seven days as well.

Today’s Coin Flip

Jimmy Nelson, MIL – He gets the Braves today, the team we’ve all agreed is the worst in the game right now. They had a nice run against some weak Phillies pitching, but Nelson should easily dispatch of them and their .283 wOBA against righties. The only question is…can the Brewers offense off the run support he needs for the win?

Julio Teheran, ATL – The Brewers offense has been struggling mightily lately with a .246 wOBA and a ghastly 31.1-percent strikeout rate. Teheran traditionally lights it up when he’s at home, so expect a low run total in this game. As is the case with Nelson, the only question is whether he can get the run support to earn the win.

In truth, both starters make for a great secondary play on Draft Kings and Fantasy Aces. Gun to my head though….I’m actually going to go with Teheran.
