It’s a short slate of 10 games, but all are at night so everyone is in play. Well, almost everyone. Mike Foltynewicz is, for whatever reason, not available on Draft Kings, but really…were you even thinking of using him? Probably not. The big righty was terrible through 86 2/3 innings last year and posted wOBA splits of .401 against lefties and .364 against righties. If anything, you should get ready to stack some Mets hitters tonight.  But that’s for the hitter coach to tell you. I’ll stay in my lane here and take a look at the hurlers.

Investing Heavily

Johnny Cueto, SF – He’s finally hit his stride with three-straight quality starts and is now coming off a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts. Up next is a Reds team that has been struggling mightily with the bat. Really struggling. We’re talking a .278 with a 22.2-percent strikeout rate against righties and while those numbers see slight improvement at home, the focus should be on their 29.1-percent K-rate and .232 wOBA over the last seven days.

Dallas Keuchel, HOU – There’s been absolutely nothing about Keuchel’s current performance that says use this guy in DFS, but this match-up with the Twins might be too good to pass up. Against southpaws, the Twins have a .266 wOBA with a 25.5-percent strikeout rate, and then you add in Keuchel’s 2.79 GB/FB with the Twins 45-percent ground ball rate and it starts looking even better. The numbers for the Twins on the road and over the last seven days also look bad enough that I’ll be comfortable using him in cash games.

Moderately Priced

Adam Wainwright, STL – I know, I know. He’s been terrible. He’s actually been worse than Keuchel has been and yet I’m still going to throw his name out there with a match-up against the Phillies. I’m not saying that he’s going to bust out vintage Waino and toss a complete game shutout, but I can definitely see a quality start, a potential win against Hellickson and some modest strikeout numbers. Not the most ringing endorsement but he could be a nice pair-up with Cueto on Fantasy Aces. A little pricey for Draft Kings, if you ask me though.

Bartolo Colon, NYM – There probably hasn’t ever been a time you felt confident walking into a night of DFS with Colon as your starting pitcher, but this might be as close as it gets. The Braves are absolutely atrocious and everything about their numbers screams to use Colon. We’re talking a 29th-ranked .275 wOBA with a 21-percent strikeout rate. We’re talking a .265 wOAB with a 24.4-percent K-rate and .058 ISO over the last seven days. We’re even talking about a .272 wOBA and .072 ISO on the road. Give the fat man a go today. At least in a $3 Moonshot or something.

Middle Class

Jose Berrios, MIN – Not my favorite choice as I feel Keuchel will grab the win in this game, but the Astros’ 27-percent strikeout rate against righties (27.6-percent over the last seven days) and their .285 wOBA over the past week might make for a nice GPP dart.

Bargain Basement

Jon Gray, COL – While I’m not a huge Gray fan, his match-up against the Padres will have plenty of people using him as a GPP dart. I’m actually looking to use him as a second starter on Aces and his obscenely high price on Draft Kings makes me think those who set the prices are in agreement with me here. The Padres stink, plain and simple, and their .272 wOBA and 26-percent strikeout rate makes it real easy to see. If not, then how about their .266 wOBA and 22.2-percent K-rate at home? Yeah. Exactly.
