Think you got what it takes to play with the big boys? Think you know more than Ray Flowers or Todd Zola? Think you can silence the voice of Jeff Mans? The crew here at Fantasy Alarm is ready to give you your shot in a salary cap format.

Thanks to the folks over at Head2Head Sports, you not only have a forum to take us on, but also with the chance to earn a little cash while you’re showing us up. Winners of leagues can win up to $400 and then there’s are overall prizes for first ($5,000), second ($2,000), third ($500) and fourth ($250). We’re sure that even a smart and savvy player like yourself could use an extra 5K, right?

The rules are simple –

  • Use your $100 million payroll to build your team
  • Pick 10 players, including one utility position
  • Pitching staffs are used instead of individual pitchers

That’s it! It’s that easy.

I’ve joined the fray as well, so here’s your shot to shut me up as well. Unfortunately, you might have some trouble dealing with the lineup I’ve chosen.  And to show you just how confident I am in my squad, here they are.

Pitching StaffOakland A’s

While they might not have any elite arms such as Kershaw or King Felix, from top to bottom, they look fantastic. The home park is a pitcher’s delight and anyone who saw Sonny Gray shut down the Texas Rangers on Opening Day knows that this crew is going to be a force.

CatcherWilson Ramos, WAS

With little need to spend big bucks on a backstop, Ramos should prove to be a solid starter all year on a highly productive team. He should be good for close to 125 home runs and should have all the other stats covered. An injury risk? Sure, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

First BaseAnthony Rizzo, CHC

Do I even need to explain why I chose Rizzo? I think his numbers speak for themselves.

Second BaseMicah Johnson, CHW

So I went the cheap route here.  Johnson is hitting near the bottom of the lineup right now but once he starts to prove that his spring numbers were no fluke, he should start to climb up the batting order. He’ll be a nice source for runs scored and stolen bases.

Third BaseEvan Longoria, TB

Why not just go the consistent route and stick with a guy who will hit .270 and bang you 25 home runs over the course of the season? His RBI total should be solid based on his table-setters and he should return a great value on what appears to be, in my opinion, a bargain price.

ShortstopTroy Tulowitzki, COL

I’ll pay the price and deal with the injury risk because Tulo is, by far and away, the best hitting shortstop in the game when he is healthy. If he gets hurt, I can not only swap him out, but I can probably add some bucks to the rest of my budget and upgrade elsewhere too. If he doesn’t, well….KA-BOOM!

OutfieldMike Trout, LAA

‘Nuff said

OutfieldMookie Betts, BOS

Why not give a try with the guy who is apparently the next best thing since sliced bread? His price is a little on the high side for my liking, but if he returns on even 75-percent of the promise and hype, he’ll easily be worth it.

OutfieldAdam Eaton, CHW

My bold prediction on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio was that Eaton would swipe 50-plus bases and score 100-plus runs. I’m putting my money where my mouth is here and will laugh all the way to the bank afterwards.

UtilityMatt Kemp, SD

Undervalued  in most drafts this year and slightly underpriced here as well makes me wonder if anyone took a real good look at his second-half numbers from 2014. He won’t run like he did back in the day, but he’s still going to hit for power and average.
