Ryan Vogelsong San Francisco GiantsMid-week and the weekend is where we find our best sources for streaming options in Week 9. At least we do not have a open day this scoring period where I throw my hands up and sigh dejectedly at the options available on the wire, as in Week 8.

On a weekly basis, I will be profiling those starting pitchers who are scheduled to take the mound in the upcoming scoring period. This is done to help you determine who to place try to grab from your league's free agent pool and/or who you should target as a player to send your FAAB funds on. Note that all the streaming options listed below are owned in less than 50% of leagues, and thus could be available on your waiver wire. Here are this week's set of potential streaming targets.

Ryan Vogelsong SF vs PIT Gerrit Cole

Vogelsong gets a double listing this week, although I have to advise that his first start at home holds the most promise if you go by his splits. He has been excellent all through May, racking up four wins in five starts, and posting a 1.14 ERA over the past 31.2 innings he's pitched, with a 21:9 K/BB ratio over those five appearances. Despite facing one of Pittsburgh's best SPs in Cole, the Pirates are below .500 on the road this season, and coupled with Vogelsong's preference for home cooking, I really like this match up.

Mike Wright BAL @ HOU Collin McHugh

Wright only lasted five innings in his third start for Baltimore, but did manage to collect his second win of the season by holding the White Sox to three runs on six hits, two of those leaving the park. He has shown good control, and his strikeout totals should rebound against the free-swinging Astros.

Dillon Gee NYM @ SD James Shields

Michael Foltynewicz ATL @ ARI Rubby De La Rosa

Gee joins the new six-man rotation the Mets are rolling out, and his first start after coming off the DL is in pitcher-friendly Petco. For a ground ball inducing pitcher, Gee does give up his fair share of dingers,Dillon Gee New York Mets so the spacious confines in San Diego are a good opening venue for the Met right hander.

Foltynewicz has always had a bit of control trouble, posting a 4.58 BB/9 over 102.2 IP last season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, so giving up just one free pass per game over his past three starts is encouraging. His K/BB ratio over the season is just average at 2.92, but that is fueled by his early wildness. He is striking out better than a batter per inning, but he also has a tendency to give up the long ball, which is not necessarily a recipe for success at Chase Field. He has been better in away games, but as those amount to two starts, let's discount that as a super small sample size.

Roenis Elias SEA vs TB Erasmo Ramirez

Elias managed to hold the Rays to a single earned run in his previous outing in Tampa, and the Tampa offense is not one that should strike fear into any opposing starters' heart. He is still struggling to get the ball over the plate, handing out far too many walks to have a good WHIP. I tend to like him more in an AL-only setup, or a deeper league, but with a limited slate of games on Thursday, Elias is the best arm potentially available to snatch up off the wire for a streaming start.

Brett Anderson Los Angeles DodgersFriday, June 5, 2015

Brett Anderson LAD vs StL Carlos Martinez

Shaun Marcum CLE vs BAL Chris Tillman

Charlie Morton PIT @ ATL Williams Perez

So long as he is healthy, Anderson is worth running out there as a mid-rotation SP in fantasy. He had a scare in his start last Monday against the Braves, a seven inning no-decision where he reported some back tightness, but the reports are that it was nothing to be concerned about…yet. He has been sharp at home this season, posting a 21:6 K/BB ratio in 28 innings and putting up a nice 2.89 ERA over those five starts.

For a soft-tosser, Marcum is managing to roll up some impressive strikeout numbers this season. He has a 9.61 K/9 rate so far in 2015, but expect that to trend toward his career average of 7.34 K/9 as the season progresses. In his sole home start, he was lit up by the Rangers, but his opponent in this game, the Orioles, are not exactly blasting the ball around the park so far this season. His mound opponent, Tillman, has been struggling most of the season, so this is a good opportunity to use Marcum for an end-of-the-week start.

Morton is nothing exciting, just steady and fairly predictable. He has looked good in his two starts since rejoining the Pirate rotation, putting up a couple of QS and winning both games to boot. He has exhibited superb control, and the strikeouts should return to a league average level as he moves along through June.

Jaime Garcia StL @ LAD Clayton Kershaw

Kyle Hendricks CHC @ WAS Jordan Zimmermann

Garcia has not been anything fantastic in his first two starts since rejoining the Cardinal rotation, but he has also thrown two QS and picked up the victory in his most recent appearance. His control andJaime Garcia St. Louis Cardinals dominance should come around as he builds up the innings, and the Cardinals seem to like beating up on the Dodgers these days. The opposing mound presence will likely get fully on track soon, but Garcia may get Kershaw at his less than top-notch early 2015 self. That is not a lot to hang your hat on, but it is what it is on Saturday.

Hendricks is beginning to bring his game back to the level he showed he could produce in 2014, after a slow start to the season. The strikeout rate is improving, albeit sporadically, but the control has been there all season. His home/road splits do not indicate any need for concern, and Nationals Park is generally pitcher friendly, making Hendrick a decent road option.

Ryan Vogelsong SF @ PHI Severino Gonzalez

Vogelsong forms the bookend to Week 9's streaming options. As I noted above, I prefer to roll him out at home, but I am not going to truly hesitate using any decent pitcher against the Phillies this season. What I said about Vogelsong on Monday holds true, so go ahead and double dip with the Giant SP this scoring period.
