It should be a big week of basketball here in Week 13. Only two teams are limited to less than three games and almost every team with four games has several prime fantasy match-ups ahead of them.

While we are still well within the dog days of January, it’s important to not lose focus. For both fantasy owners and these teams, their playoff seeding is decided in weeks like this where sometimes losing focus is easier to do.

With that in mind, check out our report on all 30 teams and their potential to have big weeks for your fantasy teams in Week 13.

The Best of the Best

Denver Nuggets

Coming off a one-game week because of their game in London, the Nuggets are the lone team with five games, but have two back-to-backs this week. Even with five games, their schedule isn’t easy. They have games against the Clippers and Spurs, but their other three should be prime fantasy matchups against the Lakers, Wolves and Magic. Nikola Jokic has been leading the charge for the Nuggets too. He is averaging a double-double per game this month and in games where he plays at least 30 minutes, the Nuggets are 5-1.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors have wrapped up their most recent home stand and now head out on the road for three of their four games this week. However, all four of them have some fantasy intrigue. They play the Nets and Sixers to start the week, which, as long as they aren’t blowouts, will have some tremendous fantasy goodness. They are followed by games against the Hornets and Suns. The Raptors’ offense is already coming into this week rolling -- averaging over 120 points per game in their last five games. More of that will ensure strong fantasy weeks from your Raptors assets.

Portland Trail Blazers

If the Blazers don’t start stringing together some wins here soon, the likelihood of them repeating their performance from last year is very slim. They are healthier now which helps, and maybe a week like this one is just what they need to start a winning streak. They play the Wizards, Hornets, Sixers and Celtics all on the road this week. Plus, they have a back-to-back to end their week. While it looks good on paper, the Blazers will need to be locked in if they want to win the games.

New York Knicks

The Knicks may be falling apart in real-life basketball, but here in fake basketball they are still an extremely valuable set of guys. Kristaps Porzingis’ injury is concerning, but it also opens up value in New York. Carmelo Anthony is going to have to continue taking more shots while Derrick Rose has some flash recently after his disappearing act. Plus, this is the week where it could all turn around. New York plays Atlanta, Boston, Washington and Phoenix. If they can go 3-1 this week they are still well within the playoff hunt. However, they are going to need some big games from Anthony and Rose if they want to win three of four this week.

Orlando Magic

The Magic have lost seven of their last nine games and are coming into this week a full four games out of the eighth seed in the East. I don’t think anyone picked them to make the playoffs this season, but after teasing us earlier in the year, it appears the Magic are still going to be playing with the ping pong balls this summer. However, with the injury to Evan Fournier, guys like Jodie Meeks and Elfrid Payton might be great streaming/starting options this week. Payton is coming off his biggest game of the season, while Meeks should still be available and playing big minutes if Fournier misses more time.

Charlotte Hornets

I’m not sure what is going on with the Hornets. They have lost four-straight games, they are allowing 110 points per game during that stretch and, while they were missing Nicolas Batum during two and a half of those games, Charlotte is still not playing up to their potential. After a Monday match-up in Boston, the Hornets head home for games against the Blazers, Raptors and Nets this week. Even after losing six of seven, with a healthy Batum, I expect the Hornets to get back to playing good defense at home to get them some wins for themselves and your fantasy squads this week.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are back to playing great basketball again and after a fine three-game week for fantasy, the Hawks have four games in Week 13 that are bound to continue the onslaught. They open on the road against the Knicks and Pistons, followed by games in Atlanta against the Bulls and Sixers. None of these games strike fear into anyone in Atlanta or their fantasy owners, so feel free to load up on Hawks this week. On top of that, if you’re in need of deeper-league wing help, Malcolm Delaney has been playing well and is worth a streaming add this week.

Golden State Warriors

It’s not official until the Warriors join the “best of the best,” subsection. After a week of only two games, the Dubs are back to a four-game week that tips off against the defending champions Monday. If that isn’t enough, Golden State plays the Thunder and Rockets this week in two pace-up games, followed by one in Orlando to finish the week. At times, the Warriors have looked unstoppable, but we will get a good look at just that this week against their potential NBA Finals trilogy partner, the Cavaliers.

Notable Four Game Weeks

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are coming into Week 13 on a two-game winning streak, which is only the third time all year they have won two games in a row. They have yet to win three in a row this season, but they get a chance at doing that Tuesday in Chicago. After that, the Mavs have a somewhat tougher week against the Heat, Jazz and Lakers, but Miami’s defense has been better, so really the only big landmine game is against the Jazz. Dallas is only four games out of the playoff picture right now, but with almost the entire West looking down on them, they will need some big games that turn into wins this week and next if they want to stay in the race. With Dirk Nowitzki back and playing well, that is a start.

Indiana Pacers

Just as soon as we all thought the Pacers were starting to live up to their potential and preseason hype, they go to London and get waxed by the Nuggets. They allowed 140 points, which is the second-most points their defense has allowed all season other than the 142 the Warriors dropped on them. If the Pacers don’t improve their defense, it might help our fantasy cause but it will hurt the team overall. This week is pretty strong for them to turn things around if it weren’t for a game against the Jazz in Utah to close the week. However, they do play the Pelicans, Kings and Lakers to start their week, so maybe they can get on another winning streak before that tough one in Salt Lake City.

Milwaukee Bucks

If it weren’t for three road games and a back-to-back this week, the Bucks might find themselves in the best of the best subsection for their fantasy prospects this week. However, it’s still a green light for the Bucks in Week 13 as they play four games against the Sixers, Rockets, Magic and Heat. The back half of their week is a little tough as they play both Florida teams on consecutive nights, but their first two games are about as good as they come. Milwaukee has stumbled some lately, but with Giannis Antetokounmpo back in the lineup anything is possible!

Philadelphia 76ers

Don’t look now but the Sixers have won four of their last six games and are feeling pretty good about themselves. Joel Embiid says they are pushing for the playoffs and they might even get back their other prized rookie, Ben Simmons, after the All Star Break. However, we are here and now and if Philly wants to make the playoff push, they will need big games from their young guys this week. The Sixers do have one back to back this week which means Embiid likely only gets three games, but with games against the Bucks, Raptors, Blazers and Hawks, all four of those games have some fantasy appeal. Whether it’s playing up in pace or against a bad defense, the Sixers will need to win a few games this week to keep their playoff dreams alive.

Houston Rockets

James Harden and the Rockets dropped 74 points in the first half on the Nets on Sunday in route to 137 points on the night. It was the ninth time the Rockets have scored at least 129 points in a game and that outing has pushed the Rockets to third in offensive rating at 115.6 points per 100 possessions. Houston is good enough to do some damage in the West and this week is no different. They have been one of the best teams for producing fantasy value this season and they have two nice home games against the Bucks and Warriors sandwiched in between some tougher ones against the Heat and Grizzlies. However, the Rockets have shown the ability to put up points against pretty much anyone, so don’t be concerned too much about their schedule this week with a pair of back to backs.

Washington Wizards

After opening the season 6-12 and looking like a lottery team once again, the Wizards have turned things around as of late. They have won four of their last five games and are 14-7 since opening the season 6-12. Now they have a modest four-game week ahead of them against the Blazers, Grizzlies, Knicks and Pistons. Their first two are at home, which should help against those pesky Grizzlies, while the latter two games are on the road. Washington has been far better at winning and getting fantasy value at home, so at least for the first two games, lock and load with your Wizards in Week 13.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season against the Spurs in Mexico City and whether or not they can build off that remains to be seen, but what we have seen from the Suns lately is the emergence of Devin Booker. After a poor start to the season, Booker has 39 points in two straight games, but his chances of a third in a row diminish against the Jazz on Monday. It’s not impossible, but after that the Suns play the Cavaliers, Knicks and Raptors, so we could easily see another 30-point performance from the young Suns guard this week.

Notable Three Game Weeks

Boston Celtics

Out of the teams with three games this week the Celtics have one of the rosier outlooks. All three of their games are at home against the Hornets, Knicks and Blazers. New York and Portland are two of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, while the Hornets are stumbling heading into Week 13, losing six of their last seven games. Boston also might be getting back Avery Bradley this week, but that might hurt the value of Isaiah Thomas, who is looking like an MVP candidate with every passing game.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls have had to fight for every win this season, but with some shuffling in the rotation and some injuries, they have been a boon for fantasy value lately. Jimmy Butler has obviously been amazing but guys like Doug McDermott have been red hot lately are worth a pickup. Chicago opens against the Dallas Mavericks to start their week and after that they play against the Hawks and Kings. Both should be fine for fantasy value, but they do have a back to back this week despite only three games.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have one of the best three-game weeks of any team in Week 13, facing off against the Thunder, Wolves and Nuggets with no back to backs. The Clippers are winners of six straight games and could be in for a few more in Week 13. Blake Griffin is also close to returning, meaning the Clippers are back on their way up after a tough bout with injuries. Griffin is not ready yet, but he is running sprints now, so look for Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan to have top tier value until Griffin is ready to make his return.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers also have a fine week ahead of them with two home games against Denver and Indiana, followed by a road game in Dallas. All three of these games are winnable for the Lakers, but with their recent slump and deep rotations, their fantasy appeal has been somewhat limited. If they could stay in some games guys like Julius Randle would be huge values. Let’s see if the Lakers can keep some games close or even get some wins to help themselves and their fantasy owners.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis is coming off a tough loss to the Bulls, but they have a nice shot at turning things back around in Week 13. They play the Wizards, Kings and Rockets which are all against teams that play either fast paces or are in the bottom half of the league in defensive efficiency. Memphis has lost four of their last seven games, but they should be favored or have very high implied totals this week regardless.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are coming off a tough stretch but have a shot at producing some great fantasy appeal this week with three games, no back to backs and two out of three games are at home. After an MLK Day meeting with the Pacers, they own home games against the Magic and Nets, which should easily be wins if they play to their potential. Assuming they should be favored, Anthony Davis and company should be in for fine fantasy weeks.

San Antonio Spurs

After a few days to stew on their loss in Mexico City to an inferior Suns team, the Spurs have a chance to win a few games before their weekend showdown with the Cavaliers. There are no back to backs on their schedule this week and their first two games of the week are at home against sub-.500 teams. Look for them to bounce back in fantasy after losing two of three and blowing out the Lakers last week.

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz may play spoiler in the Western Conference this season and other than a back to back to close their Week 13, Utah’s prospects are looking up. Derrick Favors is playing more minutes, George Hill is healthy for now and while Rodney Hood will be out for a while, it is the only downside for this team in fantasy right now. Rudy Gobert is also returning insane fantasy value as a top 20 player, so hopefully their injuries issues will be behind them after Hood comes back.

Miami Heat

The Heat have been stumbling after Week 12 and Week 13 is not going to show them much mercy either. They have three home games this week, which is a plus, but they are against Houston, Dallas and Milwaukee. Houston will certainly help their fantasy appeal but not their chances at winning, while the other two will almost surely be slower paced and tougher on defense. It’s not bad at all, but it’s no better than average even with the three home games.

The Rest

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have a couple of marquee showdowns this week, but while their Monday game against the Warriors is easily great for fantasy appeal, their game against the Spurs is not. They play the Suns in between there as well, so there is a chance that game might be a target to rest some of their important players. That would severely limit their fantasy appeal this week, making their outlook just modest despite some good match-ups.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets don’t have a ton of appeal this week. With a back to back to close the week, Brook Lopez will likely sit out one of those games and without Jeremy Lin this team is playing for ping pong balls already by Week 13. The Nets are just streaming options at this point outside of Lopez, Trevor Booker and stashing Lin.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Wolves have one of the tougher three-game weeks heading into Week 13. They play in San Antonio to open their games, followed by a road game against the Clippers before a home game against the Nuggets. Denver is not a hard game at all, but those first two are going to be really tough. Other than Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the other Wolves have tough paths to week-long fantasy appeal.

Sacramento Kings

After a game against the Pacers to start the week the Kings head out on their rodeo road trip, which is never a great time for fantasy value. Sacramento has an eight-game road trip that starts with games in Memphis and Chicago in Week 13, so while the game against the two Eastern Conference teams might not be bad, the fact that they play against Memphis the night before they play Chicago downgrades them this week.

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are one of only two teams with just two games in Week 13, but while that could warrant benching them in weekly lock formats, they have two very intriguing games at home against the Hawks and Wizards. Both are way up in pace and both come with multiple days of rest in between. With all their injuries, there is still value with Detroit despite the short schedule.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Clippers and Warriors are the only two opponents for the Thunder this week and considering both are on the road and both are against two top defenses, other than Russell Westbrook and Enes Kanter (pending the Steven Adams concussion news) we suggest benching your other Thunder players
