It’s never too early for fantasy football, is it? NFL teams have already begun OTAs and we’re starting to see what some of these new rookies look like in their new homes as well as the number of old faces in new places. While it’s still only May and we have a long way to go even before minicamps begin, we thought an early release of our 2017 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings was in order.

To get the ball rolling, Dom Murtha, who has headed up our offseason NFL coverage, got together with Howard Bender and Brett Talley to put together some composite rankings. We felt a group approach was necessary given the fact that people always seem to evaluate talent and value upside differently. The three of them have combined for numerous fantasy football championships and have each won with a variety of different strategies, so their combined input is a fantastic representation of the Fantasy Alarm family.

With the early release of these rankings, there is one caveat here. These rankings tilt more towards standard leagues and half-point PPR for the time being. We agreed that once OTAs began and we started seeing some work in mini-camps, we would then release full-point PPR rankings as well. There will be a number of personnel changes between now and August as teams implement new systems and figure out how each player will be incorporated into those offensive schemes, so we thought it best to go standard for now and really go crazy with new rankings further into the summer. We will also be expanding our rankings for running backs and wide receivers beyond the top 40 in order to help you find those deep dumpster dives that always seem to be necessary come Week 6 of the regular season.

So take a nice, long look at Fantasy Alarm’s 2017 NFL Fantasy Football Rankings and share your thoughts in the comments section below. If you’d like to vent about how we ranked your favorite player too low, feel free, though without a sensible argument you’re going to be hard-pressed to change any of our minds. Still, we’d be more than happy to listen.
