Although the extent of SG Troy Daniels knee injury isn't entirely known, he did miss the preseason finale, where the Grizzles lost to the Timberwolves 101-94. He had been limited before that, and was listed as day to day. On tuesday, it was announced that Daniels was feeling better, and was listed as probable for the regular season opener, also against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Throughout the duration of the 2016 preseason, Memphis Grizzlies PF Jarell Martin has bee dealing with a foot injury. The injury has kept him sidelined for several games throughout October, and with the regular season set to begin Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Martin is still listed as questionable.
After being placed on Waivers back at the beginning of October by the Detroit Lions, DE Wallace Gilberry was eventually released. On Tuesday, he was one of several players that showed up; to workout for the Seattle Seahawks who have been dealing with some injuries along the defensive line.
During the Titan's loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Tennessee C Quinton Spain was carted off of the field and did not return. Spain, who suffered a knee injury, was evaluated, and is expected to miss between three or four weeks. In his absence, he will be replaced by C Brian Schwenke.
Sunday night's matchup against the Cardinals marked the second missed game for Seattle Seahawks DT Quinton Jefferson. Jefferson who has been battling a knee injury, underwent tests to see the severity of his injuries, and on Tuesday was placed on the teams injured reserve. To replace him on the active roster, the Seahawks signed Malliciah Goodman.
On Tuesday, as the Seattle Seahawks lament their 6-6 tie to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night, they have decided to make some roster moves. One of those moves was to release RB Zac Brooks. Brooks made some minor contributions in the preseason, and in training camp, but was battling to stay ultimately healthy. AS the fourth back on the depth chart, he will now have to take his talents as organizational depth elsewhere.
In just the second week of fall baseball, NY Yankees prospect SS Gleyber Torres was named the AFL ;player of the week. Torres went 6-9 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and two runs scored. He was acquired from the Cubs, in the trade that sent Aroldis Chapman to Chicago, The 19 year old is currently ranked number two on the Yankees prospect list behind outfielder Clint Frazier.
When the Boston Red Sox acquired P Drew Pomeranz, they had hoped he could have a meaningful impact right off the bat. Unfortunately for both parties, Pomeranz started suffering from forearm soreness, and needed to be scratched from seeral regular seasons games, as well as being absent from the ALDS. On tuesday, he was checked out by specialists, and it was determined that no surgery as required for the injury. This is great news for a Red Sox corps that had high hopes coming into this post season. By all accounts, Pomeranz should be ready to go come 2017 spring training.
